Landscape Photography at Cobbolds Point

Join me for some landscape photography at Cobbolds Point, where I capture the dramatic textures of the shoreline.

Setting up my tripod on this rocky beach, I focused on finding unique compositions among the sea defenses and the crashing waves. It was a day of shifting light and tide, which is exactly what I look for when I am out shooting coastal photography. The conditions provided a great opportunity to slow down and really look at the geometric patterns created by the man-made structures against the natural chaos of the ocean.

I wanted to share this session exactly as it happened, focusing on the process of framing these scenes and adjusting my settings to handle the movement of the water. It is a reminder that even familiar locations can offer something new if you take the time to wait for the right moment.

Felixstowe faces directly east. You'd have a very different experience at the other end of the day with the sun setting over the land behind you. Throw in a spectator multicoloured Suffolk sunset and you'll have a very different image.

When a I see a picture like the one at 8:20, I realize that I miss the eye to find such an amazing composition in a place.

Lovely video as always Gary. I was there last October and got some long exposure shots from on top of the rocks, standing just above a sign that said 'Do Not Climb On These Rocks' or something similar and I was not alone! Still, no-one seemed to mind. It was a spring tide at the time and the tide rose and fell at very fast rate. I shot on the rising tide as it was easier to monitor the tide height with regard to the top of the groyne stones. I also found some shots just along the sea front at Languard Point, near the container port. Thanks again for the video!

I'm so with you. I hate when I'm in a place enjoying myself with my camera and people feel the need to get right beside me when there's plenty of room much further away from me. Very nice images none the less

cobbolds point is just so hard. theres really only one hero shot composition with some variation, but it's all totally reliant on the sun, which always seems to be right in front of you. lovely photos as usual

Lovely location...and yes....they are useless once tide is close to coming in lol have to shoot it earlier for sure...they cover soo quick once tide comes in
