Phew! This was a stressful day! Thanks for all your support and positivity regarding the concrete pour, we love all your comments so please keep posting and sharing, and donβt forget to like, subscribe and HYPE our channel π
Ladies, I used to work in the concrete/cement business. The mix was wrong. This is fully down to them using the wrong cement, or the wrong ratios of materials in the mix. Please hold them responsible. Concrete does react differently to environmental factors, but the mix should be adjusted to deal with those differences. If one pour has set too much before the next pour a cold joint forms. Basically this means the two pours form two layers instead of a whole slab. This affects structural integrity and can allow water infiltration. I know itβs awful to have to complain to a company and you donβt want any delays, but please seriously consider pulling them up on it. β€
You clearly care and love each other a lot, and know that you can overcome any challenges together that come up. It's why we keep coming back each week to watch and support you β€
You're making progress. I think I would get the foundation independently evaluated, because it is so important. It is such a drag! Having said that, these types of things are unavoidable when building a home. Take heart. We're rooting for you! And, one day you are going to have the most beautiful home! πππππ
Thank you so much for yet another great video! I'm sorry about the concrete, but like another viewer commented, " it's on them" to fix any other problems that may arise. Be strong! Not a single step you've taken that wasn't onwards. All will be well! β€π¨π¦
Love your attitude it will all work out in the end. The opening into the living room if it's not a doorway it could be a niche in the bedroom or living room. Well done this week ladies. ππ
I'm glad that you got the slab done despite the challenges and admire your determination to overcome the situation and not let it weigh you down. In the video it looked like there were areas of the bedroom slabs that had puddling, which could indicate that the slab is not level in places. After your initial slab grinding, perhaps using a self-leveling compound floated over the top of the slab could remedy the floor level and fix the deeper imperfections that were created during the pour, too. If so, some deeper self-leveling pours allow clean aggregate (like quartz or pea gravel) to be mixed into the self-leveling or resurfacing product that you use which would enable you to still get the effect that you originally wanted (OR you could add a color for a more free form look). That said, you would need to pick a self-leveling product that allows for aggregate or quartz to be added (check the technical data sheet). Not all self-leveling compounds support adding aggregate/quartz, and doing so incorrectly can weaken the mix. You could then grind back the self-leveling poured surface to reveal the quartz like you originally wanted. It is something to consider....
Love how you respond to everything even through the most trying of situations. Iβm certain that with your creativity and dedication little ideas will come to you both to turn problems into triumph ! I Keep the faith girls, you are amazingly talented, and will have the most beautiful home. I love the sound of lots of colour ! β€οΈβ€οΈ
You two are incredible (and incredibly composed for what has occured). There is no way I could have handled that as well as you both and for that alone, you should give yourselves some credit. Big love from Liverpool
My dear ladies....all shall be well...and these things shall pass!! I had a major meltdown when one of our pine doors was stained with wrong colour!!! Well it wasn't wrong...it just wasn't right...15 years on...I don't even notice!! Your prep was absolutely admirable...well done! Bet those lovely Irish tradesmen were in awe...except they'd never say that...they'd say ' grand...yes grand!" Lovely to see your vision emerging...just one thing. When I first found our cottage in 1990...a very elderly lady from the"big house" down the road visited to vet me...as a spinster lady teacher I passed muster...phew...she was old school...I referred to a room in my cottage as " lounge". She would have looked down her lorngette (if she'd had one..)" My dear ...if you are to live in an old cottage built hundreds of years ago..it is "sitting room". Lounges are only found in hotels"!!!!! I have always called our "front room/ parlour" ...sitting room in her memory!!! Keep going my friends..you are a shining example of the power of womitts!!!

After so much planning and prep, the concrete day did not go how we wanted. Hopefully we can still rescue it somehow.
See you next time! πβ€οΈ
