0:22 that "forty years" hit me like a semi

As a real life experience with new players, I just DMed this for my family (Ages 8-15 kids + husband), and it was SO easy to throw together in one night, and we had so much fun. Although I am a DM of 6 years already, but the players were all new. I genuinely think this was so fantastic for players starting, and I imagine it would be just as easy with the manual, and all the notes and visuals for a new DM too.

I feel obligated to own this out of nostalgia for old d&d, fandom for both the game and the show and that artwork. Thanks for showing it off Bob!

That letter from Eddie to Dustin is cannon. All officially licensed Stranger Things media (comics and stuff like this) according to the Duffer Brothers are cannon to the show. Which means at the very least, Eddie actually left that letter and explains why Dustin is acting the way he is.

Ok, I was in high school in '86 and had been playing since '79. My experience sort of maps to both the older and younger kids in Stranger Things, so of course I love it. I still prefer 3.5 and I don't need a new starter set, but I want to give props to whoever came up with "Grey Hawkins."

Hell yeah, Eddie. Hell yeah.

That note from Eddy to Dustin hits the feels. I would love to see a video going over each adventure.

I admit, I was hoping for a plot twist - they advertise that you can 'Play the way they did in the 80s!' and you open the box to unaltered AD&D 1e books with no gimmicks! 🤪

Those dice look like the ones that came with my old red becmi box. I think they're sufficiently old school.

Thanks for the review! I really enjoyed the Heroes of the Borderlands set, so I've been considering this.

I still think it should come with a t-shirt.
