Tron: Ares is out! It's got mixed reviews which means it might be the right kind of movie for me. But for now, it felt like time to take a second stab at Tron 2. Much requested as a redo, the similarities between this video and the first are only a couple. SO much so that I had to break it into 2 parts! This is a part 1. Here's every right with Tron Legacy! (Part 1)

The uncanny valley on CLU makes sense. He's their version of "Ai". He's a hollow copy of Kevin Flynn.

Fun fact about the Arena. The cheers and chanta were actually recorded at San Diego Comic Con during a panel. The audience were given chants that were used in the movie!

Real ones know Tron legacy is a 10/10 film

Tron: Legacy just feels like one of those movies that just got forgotten about by the producers. Like the director just went up to the Mouse and said, "Hey, you got this property lying around, can I play with it? I brought these French guys with me!" And the Mouse just non-chalantly went, "Sure, whatever." And forgot about it, leaving the director to make pure magic.

I love that the whole opening scene shows you why Sam will do fine in the Grid without him saying something stupid like “I’ve been doing extreme sports since I was 13”

0:12 That is the BEST Disney logo variant ever.

11:05 The crowd chanting “RINZLER” is actually audio taken from the COMICON when they announced this movie.

Hey man, if you decide to add on some wins from the comments, here’s one for you:
When a hard drive gets corrupted and can’t read properly anymore, it makes a noise very similar to Rinzler’s growl. Since Rinzler is a corrupted program who’s “reprogramming” didn’t fully stick (99 percent isn’t a complete job,) it would make sense that the Tron within him would be constantly fighting and “grinding” against the beast that is Rinzler

I love a Disney movie that doesn't look like something done by Disney

This movie is the reason why I watch anything directed by Joseph Kosinski

He was the reason why I watched TOP GUN and F1

A long-form updated version of your review?
I'M SEATED.
Also, Jude is goated for his recognition of this masterpiece.

Edit: finally watched this through. I'm so glad you're following the current style of your reviews by diving in deep to what makes these movies so enjoyable. This is a movie that deserves that level of treatment and reverence.

I hope you mention this in part 2. During an interview about the film, Kosinski revealed that, where most movie directors won't even receive the soundtrack until late in production, Daft Punk did the opposite and would send Kosinski tracks even as far back as while he was still shooting the film. He'd even play the tracks on set to set the mood. Everything about this movie was one recursive explosion of vibes, if not pure Daft Punk sensation, from concept to completion. This is truly the once-in-a-generation movie.
(I also enjoy the fact that this implies there is Tron: Legacy music that has yet to be heard by public ears.)

I'm going to go watch it for the 87th time now.

My favorite little detail is that Clu has his own custom vehicles. His light cycle (plus those of Rinzler and his two redshirt mooks) has two short horizontal headlights versus the others' vertical light bars. Then later, during the jet chase, Clu alone has gull wings and diagonal tailfins instead of the straight edges on the others.

Favorite part from the beginning:

If you watched this in theaters, up until the digitizing scene, everything was 2D. After that, the 3D kicked in. It felt like Wizards of Oz, and I LOVED it

@17:25 that CANNOT be Jude!!! I remember like it was yesterday when you told us Julia was pregnant!!! 🥹🥹 Love your vids and fam! Can’t wait for the second part!!!

Tron: Legacy is the "prettiest" CGI-live-action film ever. I think the only thing that could have possibly made it better would have been to add some "uncanny valley" filters to ALL the programs, so CLU didn't stand out as much.

Not having Cillian Murphy come back for Ares (unless he is somehow a surprise cameo) genuinely feels like such a waste of one of the best actors we currently have

7:02 Something really cool is that, in the output of the history command that Sam runs, you can actually see the last few things that Kevin did before getting stuck in the grid for the final time, because all of the commands displayed are meaningfully commands on a Unix system.
