"Remember, as much as we like to poke fun at the strange and unusual, the real world can be just as unsettling."

That line dropped and the power went out in my building lmao

Dude, this is so Firewatch meets Alan Wake meets Twin Peaks. Awesome!!

random trivia: there is a song called "Echo Beach" by a group called Martha and the Muffins, released in 1980, and the closing lyrics are 'Echo Beach, far away in time' same as what the radio voice keeps saying

He promised him he won't die saving the kid. He didn't really die but this ending is crazier than dying. Great plot.

Ugh love when Gab plays these types of games! Also Gab as a dad doing an embarrassing dance in front of his daughter while listening to her music is sending me lol

Ethan and Mia? We're in Resident Evil again

The ending of this feels like there should be a really awesome sequel where Rob and Ethan work to get Ethan free from the dimension he's stuck in. Maybe a little more action with Ethan having to fight off more of those monsters now he's fully in their realm, and then sections you play as Rob trying to figure things out from the outside.

There's just something about games set in big national parks with creepy stuff happening that just scratch a specific itch. It's so eerie and unsettling, it got me hooked from beginning to end!
There's also something about beings/entities using chopped up vocals on radio to communicate that never fail to make my skin crawl, which is getting so rare for me nowadays with how many horror games I've watched people play :_gabberLol:

I don't know about any other stories, but... I was a Boy Scout when this one happened.
In 1991 a boy was hiking slower than his troop, while hiking up to Mt. San Gorgonio, which is a wilderness reserve, no roads, no buildings.  Basically the boy, Jared, decided to cut off trail to get to the peak faster.  He was last seen by an off duty firefighter who told him not to leave the trail.
A search party looked for 16 days, found footprints, snack wrappers, and a disposable camera which the last picture is believe to be taken after he was missing and shows only his face, it was found about 45 feet from a trail.  To this day he is still classified as missing.
I can see Mt. San Gorgonio straight out my front door, so I do think of this one a lot.

Victor Thorne (cult leader/Overseer) was in the photo that was found in Fred’s secret stash and in the mines, implying that Fred knew more about the cult and was likely a part of it since it’s also captioned ‘founding members 1956’.
I’m pretty sure the horned monster is meant to be David, Harvey’s missing brother, or Elliott, either would explain why it said thank you when you defeated it.

Very cool game, loved the vibes and the mystery. And I would love to see a new playthrough of the vanishing of Ethan Carter!! you say Radiolight reminds you of that game, its interesting that the protagonist of this game shares the same first name with it, I wonder if this was meant to be a nod to the older game in some way? Fun to think about!

'Curiosity killed the cat' is only half the saying. The full saying is, 'Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back'

3:04:05 A big YES to revisiting The Vanishing of Ethan Carter! I vaguely remember that game but i do remember the atmosphere being incredible :D

Also thank you Gab for 3 hours of bliss!

It's so amusing that loons are used in horror or unsettling settings because they're local to my state (it's actually the state bird) and it's a very comforting sound for me and reminds me of going camping

This game is like a perfect mix of Firewatch and Oxenfree.

I love how Gabs and I have THE EXACT SAME TASTE for horror stories and stuff. Best content creator alive.

"Maybe onder de plant" tickled me 😂

Yeah that name reveal was super dramatic, I was relieved when you were also like... who? Great game though!

I was creeped out when we saw Fred in those pictures - but then Gabby going "Who is Fred?" immediately made me laugh, which is why it's sometimes more fun watching horror playthroughs rather than playing them yourself haha

The Common Loon migrates all over North America. So during the two migration phases (March-June and September-November) they're pretty common, and some - mostly juvenile - loons may stay year round in places with open water. So it's more common than the documentary made it seem, and probably why it's used so often in Entertainment. I used to think their wailing was wolves howling :/

Not me mentally preparing after the last game made me cry so hard LOL
