Notes
- The World Map seen in this video is a recreation of the canon map we got in Encyclopedia 2, but the exact location of anything after MH Freedom Unite is highly speculative.
- The Phylogeny seen in this video is a direct translation of the official phylogeny of Monster Hunter as found in the Sunbreak Book, with only the binomial names being added by me. You can check out the full tree here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11AWF4Cfj9YSM5w-X_Ejfe1mFgM5qmqNUmKSJZVT_ZNg/edit?gid=473735171#gid=473735171
- Scholars debating what to call the Fanged Beast class is merely a reference to the many translations of the Fanged Beast class across the games, not an explicit lore fact.
- The revision of the Sharp Claw order is a reference to how the tree has been changed in the books, not explicit lore.
- "Beast Bracer" is a term I made up, theyre just called [Monster] Bracer in the books and games.
- While the Digging Giant of the Snowfields is a legend that exists in the Monster Hunter canon, the part about it burying naughty children is made up by me, the books give us no extra details on that myth.
- Lagombi ears fetching a high price with blacksmiths is an assumption by me.
- The incident of two Lagombis comparing fur color for dominance is made up by me, Lore simply says that the dark fur of a Snowbaron indicates dominance.
- The Legend of the Mountain Thunder is embellished by me, the Lore tells us that locals have legends of a monster that rolls over travelers.
- Volvidon's tongue being prehensile is not explicitly stated in the books, but is clearly visible during its idle animations in-game.

Book:
Monster Hunter Rise Official Setting Materials, pgs. 156-161

We all know he released this because of Christmas Volvidon.

On of the funniest running jokes is how the Guild “investigates” these supposed rumors and eventually “discovers” these new monster. Especially when materials hunted from those same monsters go into making the traditional clothes that the inhabitants have been wearing for generations.

And in the next video as a surprise guest, the Deviljho, just like it does when called in Qurupeco hunts. It would be a nice touch.

Lagombi is probably my favourite of the bear trio. Its name honestly sounds kinda cute, and its anatomy and locomotion feel like something that could actually evolve from rabbits in real life.

Also, the thought of a giant bunny burying an entire village with an avalanche is lowkey hilarious.

Arzuros holds a special place in my heart as being the first monster that swiftly humbled me during my first forays in the Shrine Ruins as a green horn hunter. So your detail of referring to them as the Demon Bear got a proper chuckle out of due to digging up that old memory, Oceaniz. This was an excellent watch, thank you for the effort you put into your ecology series.

How appropriate that you'd drop this one now - two of these three are coming to Monster Hunter Now starting next week!

Good video. If we ever get more deviants, I think that Volvidon is one of those monsters who could use one since Arzuros and Lagombi got one. Looks like Qurupeco is next then.

Another banger at the perfect time.
Thank you so much for such excellent work

Speaking as a biology major and just a huge fan of science in general,  It really blows me away how incredibly in depth these videos are. I am genuinely excited to see you explore the entire menagerie of monsters.

Rise bringing them back was enough to make it my favorite of the Gen 5 games.

The Bear, The Bunny, and The 'Dillo.

Also, 10000 Zenny says that a Deviljho will appear during the Qurupeco episode.

Man, this trio sure are some monsters

Lagombi is the first large monster ive ever defeated (In The Arena Of course)

Arzuous is one the best first boss monsters in the series. Change my mind

Love this ecology videos, hope to get Tobi and Viper Toby next and I'am sure that exist a black Arzuros variation, I see a image other day

25:44 Close enough. Welcome back, Congalala.

I can't wait for the inevitable 5-hour compilation.

This was a really good video! Love this series!

Your ecology series is amazing! And very appropiate that You drop this one now😊😊😊
