This was fun! It was great hearing about Lindy’s history with guitars and some of his first re-winds. Loved seeing his original machine, too, with the coffee can variac!
My first Fender was a Duo-Sonic II... many, many hack-butchery later, finally gave it away... but I still have the controls and pups! First Strat was a 3-bolt baseball-bat ash natural '78... eventually found that you could rough up the wood and it would hold together better... also, turn off the Micro-Tilt and just fit the neck better, then it would stick in the pocket. Now Stew-Mac makes tapered shims that work well for this, bypassing your Micro-Tilt makes the dead spots go away.
Great videos! I always enjoy watching them! I have been using the flick off extra solder method for years! Question- did Lindy loose a part of his right index finger? Or just the fingernail?
