It’s an interesting theory, but I don’t think Jason is an undercover cop. I believe that the scene in the car is there to show us that Jason and Lucia can have different relationships. In this scene she’s a bit cold and condescending, so I assumed that in this play-through the player has neglected their relationship. I think that the dialog changes based on whether they’re a couple or just colleagues.

Jason also didnt kill any cops during the chase he just disabled all the vehicles, he only killed the "bad" guys like the corrupt DEA Agents and the robbers during the security job.

No way it's a coincidence that out of every rockstar trailer ever released, characters only start throwing cop accusations once Jason is there. It feels intentional

Jason is an FIB agent. A cop I don’t think so but an FIB makes a whole lot of sense.

I don't think anyone else is saying this but I feel like Jason is going to be Claude but with slightly more personality he's ex military so maybe when he got out he liked the feeling of shooting people he even says "I work better with a gun in my hand" so being a criminal and blasting cops with no hesitation will play into the story

Rockstar is making people guess one way and another way about this theory. I think in the end Jason isn’t a cop. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t going to be working with them behind Lucia’s back sort of like how Michael worked with Dave Norton to get a clean slate at life somewhere else. The player decides to work with the cop or go down with Lucia.

Feds definitely took jason and sent him undercover to identify corrupt cops like Mendez

Would be so fckin cool if we could 2 players the story mode one as each protagonist my god

That mission where they're at a party and get gate-crashed felt just like DieHard... making Jason the 'John Mcclane' of the set piece.

jason being so agreeable and nice twoards lucia. does suggest he might be using her for something. because its weird that jason almost sounds weak, comparred to any other chracater rockstar has made

That's what I think too. Good use of dialog is usually a great way to foreshadow later events. That conversation in the car is a dead giveaway of what could happen later in the story.

Also, consider the ramifications it would have on the gameplay, if Jason was an undercover cop. All the rampages and cop killing would make him the worst undercover cop in the universe. Sure, the player controls him, but imagine finishing the game as Jason as a cop after massacring battalions of police officers in free roam. I don’t think R* would shoot themselves in the foot like that. But you’re right about one thing — there’s definitely a betrayal lurking in the shadows, somebody’s gonnna be our next Big Smoke/Karen/Lance.

Thank you for the video!

I feel like lucia is going to drag jason into some deep shit they both cant get out of. The song lyrics say shes a devil woman shes going to get you. And i dont think that was unintentional.  I think jason is more level headed and lucia is more chaotic.  And the old guy tells jason you gotta know when to quit. And lucia is going to keep jason in the cycle of chaos until something bad happens in the end

I could’ve sworn that Jason being an undercover cop was something from earlier leaks because that has been in my mind since before the first trailer

A lot of people are focusing on Jason being a cop, but there is far more evidence surrounding Lucia's journey. To me, Rockstar is using the same logic as the first Vice City, where one of the main inspirations was clearly the movie Scarface and Tommy Vercetti was a version of Tony Montana. Except now, the inspiration is Carlito's Way, and Lucia is the female version of Carlito.
There are very clear points that support this:
* Direction and continuity: Both movies were directed by Brian De Palma and starred Al Pacino. Carlito’s Way acts as a "spiritual sequel" to Scarface.
* The meaning of "Way": "Carlito's Way" reflects the weight of the inevitable paths the protagonist tries to navigate. This seems to be the exact same concept behind Camino, Lucia's last name—"Camino" is the Spanish translation for "way."
* Release from prison: Just as it has already been revealed that Lucia just got out of prison due to a stroke of luck, Carlito also gains his freedom at the beginning of the movie thanks to a legal technicality (luck), trying to rebuild his life afterward.
* Identity and Latino roots: Both Carlito and Lucia are Latino protagonists.
* The Latino/American couple dynamic: In the movie, Carlito's (Latino) relationship with Gail (American) creates a central counterpoint to the story. In GTA VI, we see a clear mirror of this with Lucia (Latina) and Jason (American).

Makes the whole optional relationship aspect more impactful to the story if so

So… they’re going full Sleeping Dogs on this?

great analysis

I didn’t think they’d any betrayal but after the Extended Look I feel like Brian will betrayed us. I know everyone’s saying Raul, Jason, or Lucia but idk Brian just seems off.

игра еще не вышла, а я уже поймал спойлеры. спасибо
