When I was 7, I was so obsessed with retro arcade games that I cried at the movie pixels featuring Adam Sandler

having an autistic addiction to arcade rhythm games and the only two places you can play it are both 100 miles away is a painful experience one can only equate to torture

Post-gambling realization.

4:23 I actually managed to win a round of Stacker once and ended up with a $50 gift card for the arcade I was at. I then proceeded to blow all $50 trying to win a second time. This is why I don't gamble now as an adult.

About a decade ago, I hit a jackpot at a Chuck E Cheese. I've been chasing that high ever since

i really like this format of just choopo talking about shit

At the carnivel I always abused the water shooting game, usually competition based and the first person to fill up their tank wins.
Welllll, the winner was guaranteed a prize, so I just locked in and started bleeding them dry of... Pac-Man plushies, Choopo, are we one in the same??

The only carnival game i consistently beat is "guess your weight" because my body type is...inconsistent, and the guy could never figure it out

The key to making the most of your money at an arcade is simple: Get good at pinball, find pinball, earn replays by scoring well. Most pinball machines have what's called a replay score that, if reached, will reward you with a free game. I have, on multiple occasions, spent hours playing pinball while only spending a few bucks by being able to consistently reach the replay scores.

Arcades is just the casino except you don't used your parent's inheritance to win one slot machine

The Seabrook arcade is based/insidious because the crane games there don’t stop until you win something. I left with five flareon plushes.

2:23 - Respect for differentiating Japanese arcade culture from the scam artists in the US arcade business. Some of the greatest games ever made came from arcades because only the most fun would stick around for years to come. Hello Pole Position my beloved! <3

I called out the difference between a 'lure' ball rolled to me by a carnie and the 'regular' balls used for the ball toss game. He mistook my polite gesture of returning the 'lure' ball as gullibility and let me use it for a free toss. I won a little sticker and the next 3 would be only $1 instead of 3 for $3. After one toss of the 'regular' ball I leaned over the counter and grabbed the 'lure' ball and found it went in because of the difference in weight and material.

The police officer rolled his eyes when ran to him and reported the scam, and the carny told me nobody else was going to let me play, much to my friend's anger. At least a lady with a petting zoo took pity on me as I watched my friends have fun without me.

I learned that day that carnies, authority figures and middle-school friends do not care for justice when it comes to small-town 'legendary folk hero' faires and festivals.

the fact that a lawyer could beat a superhero in a fight is insane

There's a reason people call Chuck E Cheese a "rat casino"

Want to cure your arcade game? Work in one. Once you get to see behind the scene, you’ll understand that things like claw game has a winning set rate.

Ive never stepped foot into a casino because when I was around 15 there was a coin pusher at the county fair and there was a $100 bill hanging off the end of the ledge. I dropped 60 dollars into the machine and won back at least half of what I put in and then put that back into the machine. I gave up and layer that weekend walked by while the machine was being put away at the end of the fair, and that $100 was taped to the edge of the machine😭

I'm glad I'm not the only one kept up at night because modern sonic is in a retro arcade.

That being said it possibly being a sonic racing all stars game helps me sleep, I have researched sonic arcade games and it does exist but again the question is why. I'm going to assume the owner started including some more modern machines whether because they're easier to maintain which was the plot of the first movie or to try to bring in new kids.

Another thing that keeps me up is sonic can survive in space but drowns underwater in seconds.

The amusement park I worked at did carnival games right- money was already made at admission, so games were intentionally fair and prizes valuable. They weren’t losing money on prizes but the intent was never to make money with them, just boost atmosphere and memories so people would come back

I only ever go to retro style arcades these days since
1. These "kiddie casino" games are NONEXISTENT and
2. They simply charge a flat fee for a day pass and that's it, unless you wanna get an eAmusement pass fooooor
3. THE JAPAN IMPORTS. Especially the rhythm games. My local old school arcade has games like Pop'n Music, Gitadora and Jubeat and it's AWESOME.
Speaking of Japan, IDK how true it is but it seems like arcades over there don't really have this problem. It's pretty much all actual proper games, and also UFO catchers (crane games).
