Journey Through the Indies

28 years. Thousands of miles. Comedy wrestling. Deathmatches. And one legendary gimmick named BUSTY LOADS.

This week on Journey Through the Indies, we're joined by veteran professional wrestler, author and international performer Peter B. Beautiful.

Peter has spent nearly three decades in professional wrestling, traveling across the United States and around the world — and it turns out his history intersects with ours in more ways than anybody expected.

Morgan reveals that Peter is the man who helped give her first real opportunity as a referee. When a promoter wasn't going to let her referee, Peter stepped in and essentially said: if you want me on the show, she's refereeing.

From there, things get considerably crazier.
Peter and Jason compare what breaking into professional wrestling was like in the late 1990s, when young wrestlers sometimes learned lessons the VERY hard way. Peter talks about being trained by Mike Shaw, working the infamous 2001 King of the Deathmatches, wrestling Abdullah the Butcher, traveling to Puerto Rico and Japan, and working with some of the biggest names in hardcore wrestling.
Then we discover Peter once wrestled under one of the greatest names in professional wrestling history: BUSTY LOADS. Seriously.

We also get into:
• How Peter B. Beautiful broke into professional wrestling
• Why Morgan credits Peter with helping launch her refereeing career
• How different wrestling was for rookies in the 1990s
• Peter's infamous 2001 King of the Deathmatches experience
• Wrestling Abdullah the Butcher
• Deathmatches vs. comedy wrestling
• The absolutely legendary "Busty Loads" gimmick
• Why Jason desperately tried to get Busty Loads booked
• Convincing their children that a wrestler was ACTUALLY Dracula
• Peter's upcoming Florida matches
• Morgan preparing to referee Peter's match
• Why the opening match may be the most important match on the card
• Morgan taking her first referee splash
• Wrestling locker rooms, trailers and questionable facilities
• The legendary North Tonawanda "pee bucket"
• Matt's Journey Through the Indies cartoons
• And why professional wrestling really is an incredibly small world

Peter's phone may have died before we finished, but we're absolutely getting him back!
