This is the petition to peer pressure Isaac into starting a Catholic-LDS apologetics channel. Sign it by liking this comment. 😁

The counter of "lies" and "malicious lies" reminds me of "fallacy counters" which used to be hip in YouTube atheist circles when I was growing up.

It looks impressive, until you realize over time that pigeon-holing your opponents' arguments into fallacy buckets isn't really that hard.

There’s such a crazy difference between Joe being polite and gentle on his recorded show vs Joe of the livestream making jokes about modern memes and internet culture vs Joe in debates getting super excited

Isaac Hess is the man! So little content produced, and such depth and quality each time we see him!

In Shad's response, he said "don't Catholics believe that EVERYTHING the Pope says is infallible?"...methinks he should stick to talking about swords.

Good listening, thanks guys. I think it would be useful to go deeper into the LDS way of thinking and hear Isaac more on this issue. Current discussion is prone to talking past one another, and a deep dive into what arguments would be compelling to LDS would be foundational work for apologetics.

Part 2 is a good idea. Especially after more LDS have responded to this video and the PwA one. And this time, go for the 3 hours to match Shad's crashout.

Anyone else think it’s weird that Mormonism wants to be called Christian yet will proceed to re-baptize everyone that converts to Mormonism?

Isaac does a great job clarifying and sharing perspectives from both camps. Thanks for having him on.

Mormonism - where everything is true and everything is false, depending on who you talk to, when you talk to them, and whether the thing being true or false makes the LDS church look good or not.

Mormon here. ISAAC HESS FTW!! He did an amazing job representing the LDS perspective respectfully and even forcefully! I am used to exmormons going on shows like this and using their former LDS membership as further authority to misrepresent our beliefs and sow confusion. You did not do that at all and for that showed yourself to be a true disciple of Christ and a great Catholic! Thank you!

Something that's crazy to me is that growing up LDS in the Hinckley era we were told the rock in a hat story was a vicious anti Mormon lie and you should rebuke anyone who brought it up.(because of the South Park episode)

Then a little over a decade ago (after Hinckley died) suddenly they published the story/several pictures of the rock and hat in the church magazine and everyone was supposed to pretend that has always been the story presented.

Similar flips have happened with things written by LDS leaders themselves, including works that were declared essential doctrine you had to study and believe. (Journal of Discourses and Bruce McConkie's book "Mormon Doctrine" specifically)

There's also issues where different people and places influence what beliefs are taught/important, and there's a lot of room for people to get into niche oddball circles that turn into utter delusion (specifically the hardcore doomsday offshoots)

Knowing Isaac’s situation and also being a lifelong member of the LDS church growing up in So Cal with many friends of other faiths, especially Catholics and also serving a mission in the Bible Belt I appreciate Isaac being fair, level headed and respectful of the LDS faith, especially pertaining to the Godhead, our belief in the Jesus of the New Testament, that He was born of Mary as the son of God, that He walked with God the Father and created His ministry and established His kingdom on earth, that He atoned and was crucified for our sins, that He died and rose on the 3rd day as a glorified eternal resurrected being and part of the Godhead, that He returned to the Father, that we believe it’s only through faith and the love of Christ and His atonement that we are saved regardless of any act of faith we might do to show our love for Him and being respectful of the temple and the sacred covenants that are made to God. That was refreshing and honorable. Thanks!

Mormons (and some protestants), repeatedly avoid answering directly what it is being said they object to and answer why it is wrong.   This is simple:  copy and paste what Joe or anyone said that was wrong, and answer why it was wrong.  Attacking the apologist is both ad hominem and a red herring.  One must deal directly with the claim being made and one's objection to it.

I'll be entering the Catholic Church this Easter. I've spent a year and a half watching Catholic apologetics online and Joe is by far the most charitable. Crazy to accuse him otherwise.

The fact that you opened the entire exchange with "Mormons don't have a good understanding of philosophy and logic" was very much validated in the comments section.

What I really dislike in this whole exchange is the idea that it's for some reason disrespectful for Catholics or others to discuss recorded, publicised LDS teachings/theology without a Mormon present to defend it, like Mormons and all others don't already do it about Catholicism every day. That was pretty much every early comment on the Pints video and it was so annoying to see

had absolutely zero idea that shadiversity was a mormon, haven't seen his channel in years

Philosophy is the protection of the fruit of revelation.

As an American Religion, Mormonism is a faith that protested Protestantism.
