what's so cool is that St Francis is very likely praying for RZ as we speak

Don't forget to pray for Redeemed Zoomer!

God used St. Francis De Sales to bring me to the Catholic Church. I was a Calvinist pastor 😅. St. Francis De Sales, pray for us!

Is the internet’s most prominent Calvinist still a bit salty that St. Francis de Sales pretty much single-handedly reconverted Geneva back to Catholicism?

We a have a St. Francis of Poverty and a St. Francis of Sales.

“All heretics wish to be called Catholics, yet when a stranger asks where the Catholic Church meets, no heretic will venture to point to his own chapel or house.” - Saint Augustine

Redeemed Zoomer's project of "reconquista" to turn mainline protestant Churches back towards doctrinal orthodoxy having the actual effect of turning lots of Protestants Catholic and Orthodox is the funniest "task failed successfully" moment.

In before RZ makes his response video where he will tiresomely declare this all to be a “Strawman” and that this is “slop apologetics”.

St Francis de Sales’ book is what sealed the deal for me as I left Protestantism and became Catholic. He’s my patron saint.

Redeemed zoomer on a generational crashout arc

I am a simple man. I was a Calvinist. I read St. Francis de Sales’ “The Catholic Controversy”. I came back to the Catholic Church.

As a former 30-year Protestant and confirmed into the Church last year, I chose SAINT de Sales as my patron saint. Thank you for this response to such a disrespectful post.

Reminds me of when Homer and Bart become Catholic in the Simpsons and Reverend Lovejoy tells Bart that he needs to return to the One, True, Church. The Western Branch of American Reformed Presby-Lutheranism.

Glad you're covering this Joe. You're my favorite pop apologist.

Perhaps one day you'll graduate to the heights of responding to videos you haven't watched yet, overlaid with Minecraft footage, but alas, you haven't reached those vaunted heights yet.

When Redeemed Zoomer says that St. Francis de Sales "does not understand Calvinism", what he actually means is that St. Francis is unaware of the Neo-Orthodox distortion of Calvinism as propounded by Karl Barth, i.e., Francis de Sales was arguing against genuine Calvinism and not against Barthianism.

"The declared enemies of God and His Church, heretics and schismatics, must be criticized as much as possible, as long as truth is not denied. It is a work of charity to shout: Here is the wolf!' when it enters the flock or anywhere else."

St. Francis de Sales
Introduction to the Devout Life, Part. III, Chapter 29

Now that’s the sort of humility I can embrace!

How could anyone attack St Francis DeSalles who is prudent, wise, kind hearted, eloquent, well read and dedicated.

RZ has to be fighting a conversion. That's the only way his irrational attacks make sense.

Pray for him.

Reformed Zoomer helped me come back to the Church(by educating me on protestantism so that I didn't have to go church shopping and just returned to being Catholic). I wish nothing but the best for him. It's clear that he is becoming more tribalistic now that he has chosen to be Presbyterian minister.... I'm sure some Catholics aren't helping with that shift as they keep pushing him on why he isn't Catholic.

May the Holy Spirit keep him from straying too far.... As the same with all our brothers and sisters who call on Jesus.... Even if they are in error.

Remember Jesus's command in Luke 9:50. Those who are attacking other Christians will have to answer for that.

St. Frances de Sales, pray for us

RZ is crashing out on Catholicism because his Reconquista project is failing. He needs young men to join his cause, and they just aren't. Instead, they are joining the Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox Churches, chasing authority and tradition. The Presbyterian Church in the US is cooked. Sola Scriptura is unable to halt Liberalism because it has no authority to stop it; he was fighting a losing battle from the start.
