Tyler was so despicable that he wasn’t even allowed to die with the customers or staff
he was  denied presence and to be part of the chef’s “Menu”

Tyler threw a wrench into Chef Slowik's 'perfect menu' by bringing a substitute guest with him to Hawthorne, despite the fact that THERE ARE NO SUBSTITUTIONS AT HAWTHORNE.

My wife went with some friends a few weeks ago to a fancy restaurant dinner with a surprise fixed menu, and the last course was a cheeseburger to go.

In another part of the original script, it mentions

a) Chef was found running a taco truck outside a Food Expo, and it was "the happiest he'd ever been", and Lillian ruined that with the interview that made Hawthorne into a reality.

b) Margot calling him out on the fact that he parked his taco truck outside the Food Expo KNOWING Food critics were going to be there.

The customers except for Margo, broke his spirit, the critic is the reason his first restaurant shut down, the tech guys go to many high end restaurants like his and are also faking transactions, the older couple have visited the restaurant and barely gave any thought to what was cooked, Tyler's a kissass and John's movie wasted his time. Some of the reasons he's torturing them are petty, but he had enough.

One thing that I just noticed is that although they were all startled by Jeremy dying, they got over it pretty quickly. When Doug the investor was killed though, they got much more emotional, because he was one of them

"These are Tortillas, Tortillas DELICIOSAS"
that lives rent free in my head since I saw this movie. That betch was iconic!!  🤣🤣🤣

The giving a little bite to the last person who was caught absolutely killed me

Anna Taylor-Joy actually attacks Nicholas Hoult when he admits the truth to Ralph Fiennes, so his reaction is genuine.

He let Erin go because she wasn’t on the list; in a sick way I think he felt bad for her. Treated like trash by being brought to a dinner with guaranteed death she didn’t know about. She’s like him.

"Didnt go over my head" proceeds to prove how it went over his head. 😂

John Leguizamo’s character being a part of this, I think has a slightly deeper meaning. An aging artist beginning to do his work with no passion, only coming to set for a paycheck and not doing what he loves for the love. That is what I think bothered Chef.

The only thriller horror movie where I rooted for the killer(s).

This whole movie is amazing, but “These are tortillas” is one of the greatest movie moments of all time and you can not convince me otherwise ❤

I think that Tyler and the chef view cooking in completely opposite ways. The chef sees it as an artform. You have to get your hands dirty and work in a kitchen. It’s about what you do more than what you know. For Tyler, his knowledge of cooking is a dick measuring contest. He wants to feel like he’s smarter and better than everyone. But he’s never actually worked for it. The chef humiliates him because he’s just a rich kid with a lot of time on his hands who thinks he’s better than everyone.

As a Jeremy, I was in shock when he said my name because I work in a restaurant 😅

The Mess is now my specialty meal at home on my birthday 😂

5:40 Surprisingly no. While they were cooked, this is one of the few food-based horror movies that to my knowledge does not involve cannibalism.

The guy who played Doug Verrick(the guy in the wings) is credited on IMDb as a water safety instructor. I'd assume he knows some technique for conserving his oxygen while restrained underwater, making that shot look more realistic as they would've been able to tie him up with the wings and dunk him for real.

Cute little behind the scenes detail:

Typically in movies when you see them eating, they spit it out once the cameras stop rolling, or they only take small bites.

Nicholas Hoult actually IS eating everything, to keep in character!

Fun fact: Hong Chau's role originally was described as a "stern Scandinavian woman".
