So sorry for the out of focus moments!
This movie was crazy ☠️

It's so nice to see a horror movie about food with no cannibalism

I came across a YouTube Short of "The Mess" and immediately had to watch this movie. I think this is one of the very few movies I've seen recently that isn't catering to the people who are scrolling on their phones the entire time. You have to actually watch it. I appreciate that, it's getting rare.

"I'd rather be at Chili's"  I CAN'T 😂😂😂

This is one of my favorite movies in recent memory. The plot is so different than the usual stuff we see, with a nice twist. I’m so glad you liked it and were able to appreciate its message

it is so easy to assume this movie would have cannibalism. It subverted our expectations

This was one of the first movies I sprang for theatrical after the lockdowns - big fan

Nice. Two of my favorites dropped today, Widow's Bay and The Menu
This movie has so many funny moments. "Thalassic" "we are eating the ocean" lmao
Great review at the end. Also, on the spirit of it, I'd like to say I do appreciate your reactions.

LOL the thought of Imon eating the rock would have me rolling 🤣🤣 lol

As a chef myself(started in culinary school about a year before I saw this movie). Every time the broken emulsion was mentioned, I thought of the ever larger bowls being served.

15:07 I’m glad you get it. Slowik is a person who was bogged down by his industry and lost all joy in cooking. Margot was just dragged in by Tyler so he could take part in the experience, a “disposable sex worker”.

In the original script, Margot just cried when it was revealed Tyler brought her to die. Anya Taylor Joy insisted she would get angry hence the punch.

In the professional world, Slowik calling Tyler a cook can be seen as a veiled insult. Chefs have a great deal of responsibility, while a cook is just in charge of making food.

31:40
“What school did you go to?”
“Brown…”
“Student loans?”
“No…”
“I’m sorry. You’re dying….”
LMFAO!

I think that Slowik might have tried to give Margot a second out when he sent her to get the “barrel”, which allowed her to see what he had lost in his advancing career. Then again, it could have just been him effing with Elsa, as she said he never asked for a barrel.

Ralph Fiennes sheer joyful expression as he relives the simpler days as he grills her cheeseburger and the music makes me smile every time.

Margo, in my mind, was the one who gave Slowik the experience, so she was the only one released.

Mrs.Varrick urging Margo to leave is a sweet moment.

In the end, Margo gives him his joy back for a short time as he makes a simple burger and fries, which is also why he lets her go free, because she was not a taker. She recognized the artist in Slowik, while the others only eat there for status. She sees him as a chef. And he does it with his own hands, compared to how he had the Hawthorne staff make everything else. She allowed him to respect himself as a chef once more, so he had no issues setting her free.

My depressed state of mind lifted when i heard your wonderful laughter and saw your beautiful smile again. Still following after all these years

I liked the shift into seeing the night was going to be about head games when they brought out the laser etched tortillas bearing the diner's sins. That's when it really started getting interesting.

Have not seen this one yet. Heard good things.

This movie is so good and twisted at the end love the video imon stay motivated Dream big

Let’s goo 🗣️🔥🔥  Hype the video 🔥 remember to do it 🫵🏽🤨 🎉

I can't remember the book, but I remember there was a character who ate a cheeseburger in an act of rebellion. They were Jewish and a cheeseburger isn't kosher. By that point I'd had loads of cheeseburgers without much thought. I'd never seen one as an act of rebellion.

But it can be. And all food has all sorts of emotions and politics tied into it. Joy, rebellion, control, anguish, exploitation, generosity, culture and so much more.

This movie is insane. But it's a reminder that food - and art - are not just things to be consumed but work to be respected and considered.

Don't worry Imon your not the only one who eats burgers without cheese😁🍔

Do crave a double cheeseburger now.  Alas, it's 2:37 in the morning.  🍔🍟  Always fun watching with you.

absolutely adore this movie. just brilliant.

At least she got a burger and fries out of this experience
