When John Mayer Tried Out Suhr Guitars Post Fender BEFORE The Silver Sky

With the legal drama going on with Fender it made me think of the time John Mayer, after leaving Fender before the Silver Sky was born, posted some clips to his instagram with A Suhr Classic S and even used one of them live with David Ryan Harris. It's an interesting moment of John's guitar history as it seems like he was having fun seeing what other guitars were out there since his departure from Fender!

One of the best and my favorite John performances. him playing music that he doesn't usually play. I'd kill for a funk, grunge or soul album from him.

That pink Suhr sounds better than any of John's silver sky guitars

Suhr’s sound too modern to my liking

Where can I find the video of Jam?

Tom Anderson and Suhr make much better S style guitars. the difference is astounding.

John Mayer asked Suhr to make him a signature S before he went to PRS. Pretty certain Suhr turned him down because they weren't interested in producing a guitar with a 7.25" radius board.

Had mine since 2019, still the best S style guitar I’ve ever owned

Some of the best live tones from a John. Surh might have made a better model for him

This is like watching Steph Curry leave Under Armour to try out a bunch of other shoe brands in free agency, before landing a deal with Li-Ning.

just wanted to say that, thanks

To be honest... its all about which company offered him the most $$$ to represent their brand. You could put a stick with a string in his hands and it would sound good. Unfortunately the world is driven by marketing machines...

Is there a reason why it's so dark?? You know you can do something about it!! I can't see anything and don't know if it is John Mayer or not or if he is really playing Suhr or a Squier Affinity! And my brightness is set at max!!!! A really poor quality video!! You think you could d o
something in post to make ii brighter!!!!

nah, i think everyone is thankful that john went to PRS, one htings for sure, it would NOT have sold as many as it did because the usa made silver sky was a good seller, but the se silver sky was a blow the back out success for sales and that would have not happened with suhr cause the price point is out of reach for most

@MisterTee 4 months ago

Suhr would be a huge step up from PRS

John got Mateus's red thinline tele at the time!

I'm glad he went with PRS. Because, I don't know why, Suhr guitar's artist retention isn't great. They had so many great artists over the years - Guthire Govan, Ariel Posen, Mateus Asato, but for some reason they let them go.
