G’day guys! Chris here from Mooloolaba Music... and I’m joined by a very special guest: Chris!

In today’s "double-Chris" deep dive, we are pitting two of the hottest mid-range guitars on the market against each other. We’ve got the brand-new PRS NF3 (featuring those Narrowfield pickups) taking on the legendary Fender Player Series II Stratocaster.

Both are 3-pickup, 5-way selector, trem-equipped machines—but the tones couldn't be more different.

THE MATCHUP 🥊
The Challenger: PRS NF3 * The Secret Sauce: "NF" stands for Narrowfield. These are "Deep Dish" pickups with taller magnetic pole pieces and more copper windings.

The Promise: Deeper resonance, more EQ bandwidth, and a warmer, hum-canceling character without losing that single-coil "snap."

The Icon: Fender Player Series II

The Secret Sauce: Classic Alnico single coils.

The Promise: The quintessential "spank," "quack," and "sparkle" that has defined music for decades.

THE "FAIR TONE" TEST 🛠️
To keep the ears honest, we’ve controlled the variables:

The Amp: Both guitars are running into a Fender Princeton Reverb (Set relatively flat with just a hint of reverb).

The Player: Chris (and Chris) play both guitars through all 5 positions so you can hear exactly how the dynamics compare.

TONE ROUNDS 🎶
Round 1: The Neck. Warmth vs. Resonance.

Round 2: Position 4 (The "Corey Wong" Position). That funky, out-of-phase spank.

Round 3: The Middle. Is the NF3 quieter? (Spoiler: It "bucks" the hum!).

Round 4: Position 2. Sparkling, quacky goodness.

Round 5: The Bridge. The "Shredster" pickup test.

THE VERDICT
Are the PRS Narrowfields a game-changer, or are you a Fender purist for life? One thing is for sure: PRS is doing something truly different with the NF3's EQ spectrum.

Let us know in the comments: Are you Team NF3 or Team Player II? And be nice to "Guest Chris," he’s still learning! 😉--
