“Nobody has ever seen anything like it.. I have a very good relationship with the asteroids, they like me and I like them. Some people say its a love fest”

When the president is leaning forward with his hands on the desk and his shirt sleeves rolled up, you know you're fucked.

Our attempts to deflect the comet have failed, I will now go into my bunker where I will survive, for the rest of you, the Dow is over 50,000

'And now sports. Followed by the weather.'

"You should avoid the tidal wave that will kill instantly so that you can instead slowly starve to death."

Sorry Mr President, my mistake, we weren't on. Would you mind doing that again.

Take 2: "Look people, you're all gonna die!"

"Since we didn't have the FX budget for a scene  showing the missiles failing, I'm telling you that our missiles have failed."

It will be nothing less than extinction level event, but look on the bright side...no more love island

Boss still going to ask, "You still be coming in tomorrow, right?"

Our misses have failed and the world will end. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

RIP Robert Duval.

Where's batman when you need him

Tragically, the treatment of the movie “Don’t Look Up”, was probably more accurate for today’s world given our species’ current decline.

2:54 That sound effect of dark space; peaceful and creepy at the same time.

I find the scene where the sun hides behind earth after the speech, rather symbolic. After learning the likelihood of human extinction, the final nail in the coffin was the sun setting behind the earth representing the loss of hope. The writers knew what they were doing.

From all end-of-the-world-by-comet disaster movies, this is one of the best. Scientifically more realistic, emotionally moving, good acting, great special effects (even by today's standard). I have watched it many times.

When they split the comet in two, it is hard to believe it wouldn't have altered the trajectory away from Earth....

1:25. I love how James Horner's moving score here foreshadows the impending doom that's coming in the president's speech.

I love how they portrayed an extinction level catastrophe in this movie. No looting, no people resorting to violence, no unnecessary chaos. Just people accepting their fate.
