Big respect to Ren for flying the flag for independent musicians and showing what’s possible outside the traditional system. As an independent musician myself, I’ve got a lot of respect for what he’s doing.

If you enjoyed this video, check out my band Raygo Bloom — It's linked via collaberation. Much love 🤘

Rock you say? Ren with the band (The Big Push) is what you need!

Many people hate rap till they discover REN.  Then they still hate rap and love REN rapping in anything.  His style is so very different from any contemporary rap artist and so much better.

You found REN!! Go down the rabbit hole, you won’t regret it. The guy is a genius…

I'm the same don't like rap, until i found Rens stuff.

I rarely sub - only when I see emotional and musical intelligence…subbed.

The Skinner Brothers took off because of Ren.  He contacted "them" and they made a 6 track EP together, with Ren creatiing/directing/editing the videos, as he usually does.  He's also turned up on stage at several of their gigs.  As the ep tracks dropped, the viewing figures and likes were going higher than anything they'd seen before and their subscriber base was doubling, tripling, quadrupling.  Ren kept promoting them at every opportunity and by the time the Skinner Brothers announced their tour, in the biggest venues they'd ever played, it eventually sold out!

Their success wasn't just down to Ren, obviously.  Ren doesn't work with just anyone.  He'd been shouting them out for a while.  He was a fan of the music and he could see the talent.  They deserve it!   :)

Ren's slowly building up a network of talented independent artists, that can support each other, collab together, bounce ideas off each other, share their talents etc.  He also encourages independent artists to let reactors fully monetise their reactions to their music, describing it as a "mutually beneficial feedback loop" and stating that the labels have got it wrong.

Every label under the Sun has tried to sign Ren, several offering him multi million dollar contracts, just to sign.  He's turned them all down!  With Ren it really is all about the music!  He was briefly signed by Sony, in his late teens, but that all fell through pretty quickly, as he became too ill to record or perform and ended up bedridden for the best part of 7 years.  He's still chronically ill but is able to have a life now, despite this.

P.S.  Ren made history with his last solo album, when he became the first fully independent artist to achieve a number 1 UK album, knocking Drake off the top spot!  It also went top 10 in several other countries and topped the iTunes Worldwide Chart too!  :)  The music industry hates him because he's successful without them.  The model for independent artists before Ren was:  breakthrough, then sign with a label.  Ren decided he didn't need the label.  He valued his independence and artistic freedom more!  Consequently he gets zero airplay and no nominations for major industry awards like the Brits and the Grammys,  despite having more talent in his little finger than 99% of the winners of those awards combined!  :)  Earlier this year, his band's mini UK tour, at major venues, sold out in 2 minutes and peple flew in from all over the World to see!  I saw The Big Push at the 5000 capacity Brixton Academy.  The best gig I've ever been to!  What an atmosphere!  There was a week in between each gig, to allow time for Ren to recover!  He was also one of the main acts at 3 huge festivals this summer.  His health has meant he's been unable to tour, so it's been a huge year for him!  He deserves the acclaim too.  Not only is he ridiculously talented but he's a genuinely nice guy too!   :)

P.P.S.  Don't make the mistake of pigeonholing Ren into one particular genre.  He's a once in a generation talent who writes and performs in every major genre!  I have yet to hear him do opera but it wouldn't surprise me!  :)   He's a talented multi instrumentalist.  He plays about a dozen instruments well.  Half of them RIDICULOUSLY well!  Entirely self-taught, bar a handful of cello lessons while at uni.  He has 4 main instruments though, that he plays all the time:  classical/acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass and piano/keyboard.  He's a top-notch producer, who produces, mixes and master his own music, as well as that of his band and most of his collabs.  He has incredible vocals, capable of multiple different voices, styles and tones.  Believe me, you have yet to hear him really sing!  :)   You have yet to hear him really rap either.  He raps like a rap god but with real emotion, flow switches and unbeatable lyrics.  He also scats and beatboxes.  Believe me, I was no fan of rap... until I discovered Ren's rap.  It's just different.  He's on another level entirely!  :)   He's a multi international award winner for his video directing and editing!  His performance skills, honed by years of busking, are first-class and his stage presence is palpable!  His songwriting is world-class!  Especially his lyricism!  He's a poet really and a great poet at that.  No matter the genre, he doesn't miss!   :)   If Ren had signed with a label, he'd be the biggest artist in the World right now!  He really is that good!

A unique artist.  A musical genius!  A once in a generation talent and a fine example of a human being!  Definitely react to more Ren!  You won't be disappointed.  You WILL be surprised...  constantly!    :)

Ren is Welsh and we are very proud of him

Hey brother. So the journey begins. Like a lot of said, Ren has many songs and many genres. I am sure there will be something to pique your interest.

We associate "rap" the lyrical technique with "rap" the genre. Ren freely and brilliantly brings rapping outside of that little box.

I am 66 and I never listened to rap in my life. Until now. His lyrics have made me love his rap. Ren is different as I know you can see from this song. He is brilliant. You won't be sorry by watching more. Loved watching your reaction!!!

People always say such and such is a genius but REN really is.

Great to see your interest piqued by his guitar playing and then see how you worked to replicate it - enjoyed that! Also enjoyed your bands track at the end 😊

PURE ADORATION FROM SOMEONE WHO APPRECIATES REN AND HIS MASTER GUITAR SKILLS..... ❤ .. GREAT GENUINE REN INTRO REACTION

The thing to know about Ren is he defies genre classification. He raps, he sings, plays guitar, piano, makes his own beats, produces, directs and the list goes on and on. Placed to go next— Sing: Back on 74. Rap: The Hunger, Sick Boi. Collaborations: Humble, How to be Me, ChalkOutlines, Caskets.  Bardcore: The Tales of Jenny and Screech, Money Game Part 3 Busking with his band The Big Push: I Shoot the Sheriff, War Pigs

Ren is made of music.  He does not respect genre.  He just makes the best music you can make.

The band he's in, The Big Push, was a busking band, playing on the street in Brighton.  They did covers and also original music. They did mostly rock music but other stuff also. They are not a rap music band. You might enjoy looking at their busking videos. There's four members, three guitar players/singers, including Ren, and a drummer. Besides Ren, there's Romain and Gorran on guitar and Glenn is the drummer. All very skillful and talented. As I like to say, The Big Push never disappoints!

Ya Gotta do his Jenny and Screech trilogy... the 13:31 long version has all 3 tales in it... in the right order!

He’s Welsh by birth but has mostly lived in Brighton as an adult and his career is centred there.

He is self taught you know!
