True, why would you dress to impress a man or a woman? You can't keep it up for more than a few month anyway, if you don't do it on a regular basis anyways. If you dress and groom yourself the way you always do and according to your needs, people can see right away who you are. And your own fashion style and makeup style or your preference not to wear any makeup at all can change over time, depending on your own developement in life.

As a German woman I fully agree with your 5 points. 👍

As Peterson said:with the last breath, nobody says I wished I could have worked more.but many say I wished I had more time with my kids.

Good observations. I am no exception. I only wear makeup and dress up on special occasions. I see no point in daily life where work comes first. So comfortable and clean is priority.
As I worked on self-love and self-acceptance during the years, I learned to accept a compliment and compliment others which usually confuses them. 😊
And I do have a macho allergy. I have a negative bodily reaction to those guys. Geht gar nicht.

what do we learn, dear german women? Being more polite and giving us more compliments, I do that a lot.

German (female) here, I will give compliments even to random strangers and have had nice conversations deriving from it. I think especially female to female is not a problem. Male to female random compliments about looks might be more tricky and seem as a kind of come-on/flirtatious thing that we are instantly suspicious of LOL

Leaving your child at daycare at the age of 3 months is barbaric.

As a german male I can also say that I'm not impressed by the homely, obedient, housewife type.I'm not interested in women that look for a provider, I want an equal.

I totally agree. And the compliment thingy is sooooo true xD the chances are higher that it will translate to "this person is trying to butter you up, because they want something" than to an honest compliment so people might just answer with "what do you want?" instead 😅 It's so much easier to deal with constructive criticism. That says a lot about the German culture 🤣

Nobody should ever be judged for how they decide to conduct their private lives! There are so many things, that may have been considered within the family,  which no one else even knows about. It would really make me happy, if this judgmental attitude towards mothers having a job or not would end. They are all 'working' anyway, mothers just do it without a salary!

As a German woman I just recently read: The German ideal for women is the mother, the French ideal is the partner to her man. If you do not have children, it is a little bit weird here followed by: Oh my god, the poor couple could not get a child. I have a son, but I know women, who always have to explain. I live in more conservatice Bavaria and almost all women over 30 have at least one child here.
A Geman man, who gives to much compliments at date, makes himself suspicious to directly want more. I think, that is almost a hidden sign.

The make up thing is interesting. And true. When you see a woman in heavy makeup, they mostly come from eastern europe.

I totally agree to all 5 points. I became a stepmon sooner as planned. My husband had no custody of his son because of the law at the time he was born. My husband fought for his right because he heard his son was in foster care. The judge gave him half custody. The plan was that my stepson is going to move to us in the summer school holidays. I worked full time at this time but than he had a huge argument at the foster home and he ran away. So he came on a Sunday night with the emergency service of the child care to us and since that day he is here. I worked less hours but it doesn’t work. He is a special need boy and so I‘m a stay at home stepmom and nobody judge me. It’s the opposite. Everybody says how great we are to take a boy (especially me, because he‘s not my biological son) with so many problem to give him a better life and a chance of a better education. He was in a „Förderschule“ but we achieved the normal school for him. And he does great.

1. You are right. Macho men are immature boys. 😄
2. We are still 'independent' while at home for a while.
3. We don't struggle with compliments, but it is not necessary at all, mostly when it is just small talk complementing. We are serious. 😄
4. Too much make-up is ugly and too hideous.
5.Yes, comfort is bliss and I/we most likely don't want to ruin my/ our feet with high heels. 😄
Summary:
German women are serious, natural, strong and with dignity. 🙂💛

Staying at home with the kids ist totally freedom, and its a gift if you can afford it.

These first years go so fast, and they never come back.good to have a choice and not be jugded.

Compliments are a thing women expect from close friends, very targeted, and on a "two times per evening" basis. Randomly being showered with them from strangers is suspicious and unwanted attention.

I think the level of stay at home moms varies highly depending on the area of Germany, in southern Germany it's more common to stay at home and day care is often less widespread, whereas in my homecity of Berlin universal daycare is a right (if not often well exercised) as well as in many eastern German federal states where there is a long tradition of moms working and children going to full-time daycare at a young age. Just a side note! Loving your observations, especially regarding the compliments!

I dont like compliments because they make me feel self conscious .I would rather mix  with people who don't' keep up appearances ' ! And focus on activities and humour and fun.
