Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice.

Putting president Clark's insane suicide letter onscreen when referencing TNT's "confusing and contradictory notes" was just perfect. 😂🤣

For Sci Fi fans of B5, Crusade is our 'Firefly'.

Andreas Katsulas best line:  paraphrased: 'Should we attempt to land, the ship would have an unfortunate encounter with the ground.'

I think the planned reboot should focus on the Crusade story line.  Babylon 5 doesn't need to be retold.  Crusade should gets its day in the sun.

Crusade is one of the few shows I'm sad we never got to see get its just due.

Yes Crusade was a good show and yes TNT deliberately sabotaged it

When the revelation of the "Crusade'"s shut down leaked out, JMS was questioned why it happened. His explanation was that TNT's management operated as a divided entity with one office in LA and the other, its real HQ in Atlanta. He stated that his production company got along with the western part like a house on fire. Relations with Atlanta however, was a whole 'nother story. I remember JMS' quipping within a year of "Crusade"'s cancellation, (after he had an asteroid named after him), that it should've crashed into the Atlanta operation.

Still embittered years later by the "Crusade" debacle and during the production of "Jerimiah" in Vancouver, John Hudgens, the creator of Joe's convention intro videos, debuted a brand new one. Its opening scene, depicted a Starfury swooping in as sonically accompanied by the opening strains of John Williams' "Star Wars" fanfare while the Fury, decimated an old style shaped billboard with TNT's logo atop a building. Joe alongside Samm Barnes, opened his Guest of Honour panel at V-Con with it that year. Our reaction --a standing ovation to it and Straczynski, was glorious...

Forget a B5 reboot, I WANT A CRUSADE CONTINUATION OR REBOOT DAMMIT. There was SO MUCH POTENTIAL. They were seeding future plots just like in B5 S1, and I never got to see them play out. This show is my Firefly, maybe ironic bc they'd do a similar sabotage to Firefly a couple years later.

ngl, Technomages as a name is straight fire and fits in really well with the mysticism built into the Babylon 5 world.

The executives at TNT were like the Beverley Hillbillies...they struck oil with wrestling in TV but then they did not know what to do when it comes to actually running a TV stn.

"No British captains. Star Trek has one already."

"He's French!"

"Wait, really?"

Crusade was a GREAT show.  What is shameful is that we never got to see it made the way JMS had envisioned, which to me was INSANE.

TNT did not just "save" B5, it saved itself by taking on B5 "as-is".

Given its overall success, Crusade with JMS at the helm would have also been very successful for years to come.

What is so sad is that based on this video TNT executives apparently monkied with Crusade in an attempt to leverage its viewership to help grow its regular DISMAL programming - and destroyed what likely would have emerged as TNT's "crown jewel" in the process.

To any players of  Freespace The Great War game back in the day, have you every noticed the similarities between it's story and Babylon 5's. Aside from space combat with fighters, we had the Vasudian War and the Mimbari War with two former enemies coming together to fight a common foe in both cases. The Shivian War and the Shadow War, both with a spider like enemy who use insect like ships. The Ancients vs the First Ones. If I recall both the original game and Babylon 5 came out around the same time, so it makes one wonder who copied whom.

I tend to see the network executives as the ones who were at fault, given how similar execs have acted in so much of TV history.

The Captain looks like he really wants those TPS Reports on his desk by Friday. #That_Would_Be_Great ☕

There is also a technomage trilogy novel series and it's freaking amazing.

Crusade needs a reboot! B5 is a complete and finished story and doesn't need retelling. The Dilgar War is another interesting possibility.

Phintasmo, thanks for the background information on the show...apparently, I had no idea just how troubled the production was.

I would have liked to see where the show went. B5 had a pretty clunky, hit-and-miss First Season, but it matured with excellence. Crusade had a good premise, and it's disappointing we never got to know if it, too, could have matured into something phenomenal.
