Final Fantasy 7 Revelation's 30-minute TGS 2026 demo was recently made available at Tokyo Game Show, and we at Direct Gaming were able to attend the press booth to play and record the full demo.

In this video, we break down the story moments, dialogue, and details throughout the demo, including Cid Highwind and Vincent, the new FITS (Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear), Black Mage Tifa, Summoner Cloud, and several important story scenes involving Cloud, Tifa, Sephiroth, and others.

The demo contains a lot of story content, so we're going beyond the individual clips being shared online and looking at the scenes in context. We'll also examine the Japanese dialogue and terminology where it helps explain what is actually being said and what's happening in each scene, along with several details that may be easy to miss.

Looks like new info found during TGS:

If you try to turn back during the part where Cloud can hear Aerith’s voice (you are walking in black smog forward ) he makes that same creepy movement he did in Rebirth when he ran after Aerith to give him the Black Materia in Rebirth

This is how you talk about a demo!
If there's one thing I'm most excited for in Revelation along with moments like Mideel and the LSS, it's the music. So far, we got to hear bits of Edge of Despair, The Highwind Takes to the Skies, Wutai & The Great Northern Crater

Vincent wasn't shown in the Northern Crater scenes in the previous trailers, and Hamaguchi mentioned this is a special version with adjustments for the demo. So I don't think Vincent is actually meant to be in this chapter; they just added him for demo purposes.

If you watch the trailers before, Vincent isn't even supposed to be with the party at this time. So he was included into this demo exclusively for showing his combat. He will get a solo session right after this section is what we're told. He doesn't talk at all even if he is in your team.

It does seem like Vincent joins later because he wasn't in the original trailer (in fact Hamaguchi showed a comparison shot from the trailer where he wasn't there with the demo shot where he was). And one trailer showed 'how to use Vincent' tutorials popping up when he was alone in a different area. So it's expected for him to be elsewhere during at least part of the Northern Crater section.

Also, of all the things I'm happy about, Nanaki FINALLY being used as his name in UI, menus and from his friends (and not the Hojo designation) is easily the thing that makes me happiest!

17:58 Interesting localization here. In English, Sephiroth says something along the lines of carving the number into him, rather than trying to cut him up to find it.

I'm excited for that fake flashback scene, I always thought it was so cool how it was done, and now with voice acting instead of text boxes I wonder how it was going to be. So far I like the color combination so the party stand out etc, and I'm glad that the flashback characters are not translucent lifestream-green like at Tifa's memories in Gongaga for example.
And overall I think they look prettier but I dunno about that, might be my excitement, good stuff!

16:10 Can you speak to what is meant by or what the literal Japanese translation is in this scene where Sephiroth says something in English along the lines of "... Perhaps I have the wrong man." after asking about Cloud's number?

I went to both the business days as PRESS and couldn't get the ticket to play the demo. I asked if they could squeeze me in since I was PRESS, and they were like, "Sorry, we don't do that. Everybody has equal chance to play."... hmmm.....

I actually didn't know about the Jenova thing. Now I really wonder if Whispers are the Sephiroth's army of darkness mentioned in the early drafts of the story, that got cut
