Starbucks does not sell coffee. They sell sirops   do not call that coffee.

starbucks uses coffee as an ingredient but at the end you can't call it coffee anymore!

The big misunderstanding of this video is that the dude is talking about Czeck Republic, not Europe as a whole. He clarifies it often, but not in the video title.

I'm Dutch. While in Miami, we found a restaurant with a Serbian waiter. We came back 4 times just because of her. She didn't do small talk and she just let us sit at the table, till we asked for the bill.

Fun fact, here in Austria (maybe all of the EU?) it's actually illegal to put up a price without the tax. You have to tell the consumer EXACTLY what they are going to pay before they buy.

"Americano" is named that because American GIs in Italy found Espresso much too strong, so they poured hot water in it to dilute it.

Sweden here, free tap water is always included in every restaurant. Often you get a chilled glas bottle with a glass.

"Do you like coffee in Europe?"
Of the ten countries that drink most coffee per person, Europe has the top nine spots, Canada takes spot number 10.
Yes we do have the larger chains for coffee where you can get the fancy coffee mixes in larger sizes on the go, but most people drink coffee with their friends at a cafe or at work. Or just have an espresso machine or coffee brewer at home. The sizes also varey depending on what culture you are from. Towards the meditranian you get more espresso like drinks in those smaller cups where the norm in Northern Europe is brewed coffee in a pot that you drink out of larger cups and mugs.
Even within Europe people do not agree on what is the right way to drink coffee but adapt.
Myself, I prefer a resonable sized cup of black coffe without any added tastes that I can sip on for a while but it has to be warm otherwise I do not think that it tastes good.
There is no right or wrong way to drink coffee, some like the to go style while others prefere the more social way to drink at a café.

To figure out Europe as an American you would have to go here yourself and spend at least a week each in the various countries to experience the culture of that nation. And not in the major turist cities like London, Paris, Rome, but outside of those places where you really can meet the people. (Language might be an issue then though) We are mostly friendly as long as you respect us and the social rules that are in place.
Every nation here has so much history that forms us into what we are that you can't mash us up into one group. That is why the guy in the video continues to say "in the czech" since he is drawing most paralells to the nation he is in. The Scandinavian nations are toatlly different from the Balkans, the brits different to the Spanish, Germans from the Italians and we are proud of it but still apreciate our differences.

About the tipping thing, my thought is that if an owner can't pay his workers, he should not be on business

Americans if Czechs talk about beer you listen. Czechs culture IS beer, they give world modern beer - pilsner lager named after Czech city. They do beer longer than USA existed. Also Budweiser is Czech, the original one, not the American stolen one p.ss tasted

9:18 This actually happened to me as a child. My family visited the US and my dad gave me some money to buy something as a souvenir. I was really excited looking for something to pick, but at the till the price somehow changed from the label and I found out didn’t have enough money after all. I was so confused and embarrassed. The people around me looked at me like I was crazy for not knowing about the sales tax. It made absolutely no sense to me!

The foam on the beer (in Germany we call it "crown") is there to protect the beer from getting stale. The foam dissolves over time and the typical height of around 5cm gives you a time of around 30 Minutes for you to consume it in good quality. Czechs have a special method to draft a beer consisting of foam only and call it "Milk" (guess why) that has other reasons than protecting the beer. It has a lot fewer liquid, so you don't have to visit the toilet that often, it is lighter in taste than the bitter "Pilsener" beer, yet the airy foam has a stronger alcoholic effect, than the small amount of beer that it really is.

does Starbucks exist in Europe?
yes, and it gets dissed every single day for serving dirty water but using a beverage name

You don't go to a restaurant to strike up a conversation with the wait staff. They are doing a service so we can enjoy evening with people we want to. That's not rude, its polite and respectful. Faking a smile, interest and conversation for money is horrible.

99% of Europeans who went to the US describe the beer they had as beer-flavored water at best, or "piss water" at worst.
99% of Americans who came to Europe and had European beer and returned to the US agree with the Europeans!

You have to remember that he speaks for the Czech republic only. There is no blanket culture across Europe, it's a very diverse place.

In Croatia if you order a coffee you automatically get a glass of tap water with it. It won't contain ice.

In France, you can get tap water in a restaurant without any problem and it's normally free. However, for the menu, you can ask for the cooking you want for red meats, but if you change "the recipe" it's rude to the chef. Servers don't have to be more polite than normal (And the notion of normal is very different between France and the USA.). You are a guest and not the king. Here too, you must ask for the bill. You won't be rushed out. Tax is always included. You can tip but it's not mandatory. In general, we round up. I once went to a Starbucks out of curiosity. I'll never go back there again! It's not coffee, sorry, but it tasted horrible. For restrooms, our doors close completely. The quantity and cleanliness of the restrooms vary from place to place.

In Spain, there is a law that requires bars to provide tap water if a customer requests it.

As a Colombian, I always feel terrified and angry when they serve me those enormous cups of coffee at Starbucks (very poor quality, by the way). In Colombia, they drink a cup of coffee like in Europe...
