James, like his father before him, was an officer in the British military. I don't know how James managed to make this video. Every bit of emotion is absolutely real.

Best song I've ever heard absolutely amazing artist ❤️

Yes that's his real dad, who at the time was dying from stage 4 kidney disease, and would only survive with a transplant, neither James or sibling were a match as he has a rare blood type, James wrote this for his father as a goodbye this is the first time his dad heard him sing it, in one take no auto tune. After this video a distant relative was found to be a match, and he survived, but I hear he not doing to well again.

"You're Beautiful" is another great one by him, great video as well. Also, "Goodbye My Lover"

I thought for a bit, you weren’t going to get it. But, you did. Great reaction, thanks.

wonderful song thanks Lisa

Having a father or not, you can't ear this song without crying

Lots of great songs in the James Blunt rabbit hole ......he was a Captain in British Army and a tank commander in Kosovo , and part of the Queens personal guard

this was beautiful. Songs like this make us remember that we're all human.

I'm a hardcore James blunt fan his first song called beautiful was his first big hit if you get a moment check it out it's called beautiful

Love the honesty in your reaction♥️ been a fan for James Blunt for over 18 years he’s an amazing singer/songwriter you should check his first tow albums

I lost my dad when I was 17 in 1982. Yeah knowing his dad got a kidney and is doing well because of this video getting a organ drive in the UK is something good.

Tears and Rain is this type of emotional but that song reminds me of a song at someone’s funeral who has taken their own life.

😘❤️

Both were high ranking officers in the British army. His dad survived after a kidney transplant.

I love it when they start upbeat and then are brought to 😢 tears.

His dad was diagnosed with a terminal illness.  He recorded this and did the video fully expecting his father to die.  But then a cousin with a compatible organ came through, and his father actually survived, after this had been all recorded.

I am crying each time I see the Video. Appreciated that you allowed yourself to do the same at the end, while you're reviewing the song.
Do some research on the background, the song is getting better with each bit of that background.
Left a sub for being able to shed those tears.

There is so much more of James Blunt to explore, so Please feel free to do more of him, he is Amazing and You will Not be disappointed 😉 Great Video 😊👍

The incredible thing is that everyone in the studio was crying except his father who just asked why, as he was still here.  The producers wanted to tidy up the recording but James said no, leave it just as it is.
