half way trough your video i had to stop it and went and watched the thing. It really exceeded my expectations. Thanks for bringing this treasure to my attention. Truly brightened my evening and life. Lets hope more people find this evergreen

Treasure Planet and Atlantis: The Lost Empire are S+ tier movies and I will DIE on that hill.

The ultimate "they dont make them like they used to" movie for me.

Jim Hawkins refuses to shake the cyborg hand twice in the film. The only time he took Silvers hand was when it was his real hand, offered specifically to save his life. That is intentional storytelling

As far as I know, this is the ONLY Disney movie to seriously deal with the problems and fallout that comes when a boy doesn't have a father around and the difference one can make.

I always LOVED Silvers character. Not only is he badass and cunning with a killer design, he chooses kindness and his relationship with Jim over EVERYTHING else which is really all kids (like me) who grew up with a parent that chose something else over them to do. chose them.

Still an underrated classic. Disney did this one very VERY dirty.

I like that at the end when Silver lets go of the ship and grabs Jim's hand to save him, he does so with his real hand and lets go of the ship with his cyborg hand.

This movie was my childhood.  It wasn’t until so many years later that I learned it was not financially successful and I was crushed.  How could a masterpiece like this not be recognized!?

Amazing video.

4:18 His dad didn't DIE, he abandoned his family! Never does it mention his death, only shows the flashback of Jim trying to stop his dad from leaving!

Yeah, this movie is certainly one of the best ever made. Do you guys ever notice how throughout the film and Jim's Outlook on life And the way that he starts to treat himself is DIRECTLY reflected through his clothing? What I mean is that he's pretty much wearing all black at the beginning of the movie. And as things progress, he continually wears lighter shades of clothing, he goes to a darker brown and then a lighter brown and then tan and at the end of the movie he's wearing an all white suit...

It's a representation of the progression of how he feels about his purpose and himself. It's actually fucking brilliant because it's so subtle, but if you're really watching, you'll notice how much it changes throughout the movie. Especially towards the end. Even his complexion changes...Like he looks naturally less sad as things progress in the movie. The bags under his eyes go away and he starts to smile a lot more as he REALLY comes into his own as this badass hero towards the end of the story. I REALLY LOVE THIS FILM.

“I’m Still Here” is one of my favorite songs of all time I love this movie so much

I remember even as a kid thinking that it was really cool how "The Miniboss TM" was not just a 1-dimensional character when he easily could have been. The fact that he kills Arrow of his own initiative and actively shows his disdain for Silver, hinting that he may stage a mutiny gives him so much more depth than secondary villains get in these movies, and they did it without giving him a back story.

Coming from an animators perspective, it’s really refreshing to see people talk about animated films in the same fashion as live-action. One of the most frustrating aspects of my industry is the complete belittlement of animation as a “genre” and not a medium. This fake distinction leads to worse pay and treatment of animation workers and directors compared to their live-action counterparts. There’s a huge movement in animation right now to break down these barriers and commentary channels like this help create more respect for the infinite potential of animation. #standwithanimation

Strictly from a writing perspective, this movie was so underappreciated it's criminal. I watched it in my youth, and when rewatching it as an adult writer and literary graduate - this level of care in adaptation rarely comes around. It is phenomenal, and I can easily understand the many kids who grew up to love and appreciate it. Art is forever when published indeed. This movie deserves its audience

Disney movies did the absent mother thing a lot, it was really awesome that they finally did the absent father thing, because I think it almost resonates more with kids…more kids have absent fathers than mothers, and people undersell how tough that is on kids.

I grrw up with a single mom and a out of the picture dad. This movie is the most underrated movie of all time and will go down as my favorite disney movie forever because of how it spoke to kids exactly like me. Your circumstances of life dont dictate your outcome. What a perfect masterpiece

I opened youtube at the right time

Another of those kids here. "I'm still here" is still on my list of favorite songs

The troubled teen dad element and his complicated connection to silver made this movie hit hard for me
