18:25 The smoke wasn't meant to hide his escape- the smoke hid the use of his grappling hook (a real device)- instead all the police see is The Bat "floating" away appearing to have supernatural powers.

Whenever I hear Michael Keaton say "I'm Batman" I say to myself, "Damn right!"

Michael Keaton will always be Batman for me...and Jack Nicholson as the joker too!

Next, Batman Returns 😎

I don’t often see people start watching a Batman movie with so little foreknowledge. But you guys picked the perfect movie to do that with. While this movie isn’t always the most accurate to the comics (which you obv don’t have to worry about lol), it is a fun and engrossing dive into the world of Batman and Tim Burton’s weird gothic sensibility. This movie is just a good vibe.

In the end, Batman is still that traumatised kid who watched his parents get murdered.

45:26 I used to think Alfred dropped the ball here, letting Vicki in, but she put together the pieces and figured out that Bruce is Batman. So I now think she showed up, told Alfred she knew, and he let her down into the Batcave.

Filmed at Pinewood Studios about 20 odd miles outside of London in England. Batman 1989's Gotham street set was constructed & filmed in exactly the same backlot that Spider-Man Brand New Day filmed & constructed a NYC street set seen in that movie!

Both Ledger and Nicholson are amazing jokers.

I remeber the Bat-mania when this movie came out. The bat sign was seen everywhere.

The first live action Batman, appeared in 1943 & 1949. The first live action Joker, was Ceasar Romero in 1966.

Burton pays small homage to the Adam West Batman (Batman 66) with Joker's outfit, which is a zoot-suit version of Cesar Romero's purple suit from that.

Joel Schumacher would draw a lot more from Batman 66 with his two movies, so I highly suggest giving it a watch before Batman Forever

Yes. Michael Keaton was the first actor that I’ve seen in a film who played as Batman when I I was a kid. And Jack Nicholson was my favorite Joker at the time, but.. until Mark Hamill who did the voice of the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series changed my opinion that is. 🙌 🃏 🦇

I heard during the production of this movie, the studio gave Jack Nicholson so much freedom to improvise and as a character Joker was unpredictable so he was having fun playing this character. Plus another reviewer described this Joker as a "Walking Homicidal Dad Joke"
