Did you get a bad batch of gas or something? Those saws certainly were having some issues.

Time to switch to battery operated saws. They've come a long way and are great for situations like this

Absolutely no need for VVing.
1. It's an old and rotting house that could have an unsafe roof.
2. The fire wouldn't make it safer.
3. You soak that fire room with tank water through the windows and then open all of them. All from the exterior.
4. All that Visible Burning Material out back being ignored.
5. 7:00 Hey CHILDREN, the fire is still burning so what was the point of going on the roof? I'll tell you what. GETTING OFF!
