I was eager to see that coat of plates!  I knew it was coming, the heavens foretold of it...

Man, I'd give both arms and legs for an early 14th century video. Late 13th and first half of the 14th have to be my favorites.

Besides the Coat of Plates and Schynbalds, another form of proto-plate armor used in the 13th century was the Poleyn, simple knee plates.

Small nitpick: by the 1260's, the sugarloaf helm was beginning to appear and was more effective than the great helm. I'm sure the great helm was still more common though. Great video, I love the attention to detail!

Some additions/corrections: My maille chauses (for about 1320) are the enclosed variant with leather sole integrated into them. It takes about 10-12 minutes for me to put entire leg protection on (includes the belt, wool underneath, padded upper leg protection with plate knee caps). My entire armor can be put on in about 22-23 minutes, this includes everything from being in undergarments to being completely battle ready. Having said that, I don't have a coat of plates, but that wouldn't add much time on top of that. Walking in this isn't painful at all, when properly tailored, they fit nicely. It's like walking in barefoot shoes - not great for hard surfaces and/or if you are not used to it. But, they would be used to that, and an armored knight in 1260s wouldn't walk much anyway.

I just woke up to this on my phone, a real treat with my favourite century for medieval arms and armour :D

Now That's a sword, I also love seeing the funky falchion blade shapes in works like the Morgan Bible, lots of either experimentation or artistic license
