The cars for £2500 are 12 to 20 years old  , a few years ago these were £500 to £1000 the car market gone Mad .

The best cars for the financially-educated  people are the top Japanese cars (leaders of reliability and low TCO = Total Cost of Ownership), few years old (the first owner is taking most of the depreciation hit), very well maintained and technically checked, for a lower than market price.
Toyota, Mazda, Honda, Suzuki, Subaru, Mitsubishi have each amazing cars, leaders of most segments.
For luxury the only financially-smart choice is Lexus.

You keep talking about 'button spew'... I'd far rather have that than all yer shitty screens with menus and sub menus in my car.

You can check the mot history simple through the DVLA good tip for ya

"Fiat? No. It's a bit Italian, isn't it?" 😂😂😂

The cooling was also a problem on the ecoboost engine as a colleague found out!

was waiting for a CR-V recomendation :)

Thank you for useful contents.Would you also make a separate video for budget automatic cars for first time buyers please

Mercedes my missus had a Mercedes and electrical faults cost her a lot she said it would be cheaper to hire an electrician and carry him in the car all the time

This guy knows his stuff 💪🏻

Feels to me like 5k is the real danger zone for used cars. It's a lot of money but the cars (in the current market) are still old and often high mileage, or with around 70-80k on the clock and in need of cambelt change. If on a budget I'd stick in that 2-2.5k range and go for something like the Ford Focus Mk2 listed here. It looks as good as most of the 5k list, but won't sting as much if things go wrong

Do a video on larger petrols. Estates etc. in a 5 k budget

Dacia runs and runs , most popular taxi driver car in Spain for a reason

Recently spent £9k on a Mk3 (2016) Skoda superb and it’s one of the best choices I’ve made in life. 50+ mpg in almost all circumstances, remarkably refined and smooth ride (genuinely comparable to the 2013 C220 elegance my parents own), and more load space and legroom than I know what to do with. It doesn’t even feel bulky too; I moved from an 06 plate V70, and despite being slightly bigger in all dimensions, the Superb feels smaller and more usable around town.
Can’t recommend enough a Mk3 Superb.
Bonus: they look fantastic, especially in either faux-luxury or full murdered-out trim

The interiors on the honda civic do suffer from rattles and squeaks as they use hard plastic for much of it.  Especially the gear stick, such an annoying squeaky rattle when driving due to plastic friction on stick assembly.

Yes a love cars with no touch screens & just sliders or nobs to turn heat up or down . Keep it simple. Well said 👍🏆 Honda civic I’ve just sold after 3500 miles around Europe. It was 20 years old. Never used any oil or coolant & AC was cold.

I have heard that many people in the know refer to the Ford Ecoboost engine as  the Ecoboom - I wonder 💭 why? 😊

Bought a Punto Evo 1.4 2010 ,2 years ago for £3300 with 15k on the clock .Very simple engines, great for a DIY mechanic.
Oil and filter change every year is £30 (2.6 litres of oil)
Timing belt, water pump and tensioner around £120 and easy to do yourself.
The exhaust from the cat back is less than £100 inc delivery and is simple to change.
No dpf , egr , turbo/intercooler ect.

Love what you told about those Opels

6:18 I have been lucky with owning two Vauxhall Insignias 2012. My first one was a copart purchase and owned for 6 years, put over 60,000 miles and sold due to a van. My second Vauxhall Insignia 2016 estate was purchased from copart and again only sold as purchased a new Skoda Octavia 2024 estate and plan to own for 20 years. Vauxhall Insignias are work horses and I was getting 68mpg, covering over 800 mile on a fuel tank on both my Insignias with the use of cruise control. Would highly recommend.
