Remember. All of this could have been avoided if the Vindicare Assassin's shot had penetrated Cardinal Xaphan's refractor shield.

I love it when grunts (doesn't matter the media) are shown to actually be competent in their craft. They don't need to be the best, but good enough to actually show that they had actual TRAINING

In life: War
In Death: Peace
In Life: Shame
In Death: Atonement

I love the trench raid rather than just having a mindless charge into the bunker! The Death Korps may be crazy, but that doesn't mean they're crazy.

Never, in the history of 40k history, have I seen a man sleep

A truly revolutionary film!

How is it that individual fans consistently produce higher quality content than all the resources marshalled by Warhammer Plus...

"In the cruel dark of the distant evil times, there is only the great war in space" had me absolutely lose it.

You've got humour, and it's right up my alley

“Hanz, remember the day that we kill over 500 heretics and somehow used a 20inch cannon and destroyed 50 chaos marines at the trenches.”
Hanz: “yeah…”
“Well hanz, they said that you gotta stop overachieving the objective, you know.”

The silence is absolutely deafening in the beginning, something very, very few creators can truly capture. This is a masterpiece in its own right, even if just for the small details.

What 40k so often manages to miss in their content is how people can be batshit insane and still be tactically sound.

A Krieger guardsman would charge down a Khornate Beserker with nothing but a bayonet and a complete lack of hesitation, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t also an expert on trench warfare.

You captured that here pretty nicely.

What really sets the grim darkness here for me isn’t just the presentation which is all excellent, but the back and forth from kriegsmen performing a manoeuvre perfectly to suddenly an out of nowhere space marine detachment making all that progress pointless before it escalates into a full on battle that’ll probably end in a tie. Typically we’ve seen animations with victories or noble sacrifices but here we really see a glimpse into the difficulty and futility of conflict in 40k, and all in just 5 minutes. Seriously, amazing work here.

Who would win?: a multinational billionaire company dedicated to tabletop games, retail and model building that created a franchise with a rich lore that attracted thousands of fans and created one of the biggest fandoms in the world, just to stab them in the back with their ludicrous and preposterous company politics, or
A passionate boi obsessed with shovels.
Seriously, amazing work dude, i tip my cowboy hat to you.

Now this is a Christmas gift right here.
Christmas isn't even celebrated where I live but I already feel merry.

This made me realize how rarely we see trench raids in fiction. I'm glad for it.

That quick shot of a Sister in a cell was really nice. It added a haunting darkness to the film and while she didn't show up again - it leaves you to imagine what it must be like to be locked inside a fortress under siege, hearing everything going on outside.

To be honest, this feels like an extended trailer. Short but awesome and leaving me craving more! Hopefully GW gets their collective heads out of their asses and lets fan content flourish again in the near future.

@AbsolutelyNothing 4 years ago

Your hard work for a full year really shines through in these glorious 5 minutes. Well done man, this was a joy to watch and it’s dripping with atmosphere!

@AerodynamicBrick 4 years ago

That moment when you realize one man had made a better animation than a company that have dozens of animators

@Celtic_Iron 4 years ago

GW should be ashamed of their lives for attempting to silence creativity. Thank you for being a collective of integrity in a universe watched over by shameless dictators.
