In this episode I headed into Middle Harbour Creek to explore some new water from the kayak, trolling hard-bodied lures in search of Flathead, Mulloway and whatever else might be found lurking in some of the perfect holes around the Roseville Bridge and further upstream.

The session produced some quality Flathead, but things got really interesting when I started getting hit by some much bigger fish on my lighter setup that I just couldn't land. With some great structure and plenty of ambush points around the bridge and marina, there was no shortage of possibilities.

A hot spot for Bull Sharks like the old coal loader in Sydney Harbour, darting aggressive moves, scary in a tinny.

Used to swim right there back in the 60's as a kid till there was a couple of shark attacks - that was the end of those little adventures!

Grew up top of the hill, kid over the road got taken in that water, we always kept clear of that area. Was heavily dredged in that spot in 60s. Cool to see it again 😊

That area, especially Bantry Bay is a shark breeding area. Beware.

I'm a local around there and been fishing there for about 25 years. Seen a few bull sharks in that time. Seen kingies get caught from land at the bridge years ago and also a school of bonito swimming along the northern edge in about 3 feet of water near the pipe in peak summer when the water was about 23C, couldn't believe it at the time. Good video mate its a great spot.

That first hole you went to my mate and his gf were in a 10ft tinny getting rammed over and over by a bullshark.
Another time down there water-skiing my bro driving the boat , my mate just finished a barefoot and a GIANT fin swimming straight for the guy in the water oblivious to the shark ,my bro yelling grab the rope over n over n luckily for him he did just in time.
The couple in the tinny were so scared. That thing wanted them bad. I always felt uneasy skiing in that water.
So many memories and stories from around there. So so many. Back in the 80s was a good time to be young.

Hey just wanted to say thank you. Ive been binge watching your channel and have been trying trolling as ive just got my first kayak. Had a great day today in Botany Bay caught a tailor in the first 10 minutes and landed a 56cm flatty. 2 other smaller flattys. Turned out to be an epic day.

Sharks….. as a child we had them up all the way of the Lane Cove River… up to Fullers Bridge…. always known and seen up there in the 1950s

Yes a great spot. Never know what you might get there. Hooked something big here years ago and towed me for about 50m before the treble straightened up. I was going one way and whatever it was was going the other way. Shark maybe.! Great video. Thanks.

About 25 years ago I caught a 1.5 kilo whiting under the bridge. Went back the next day got another, 2.2kg. Took about 10 minutes to land him. What a beauty.

Good Vid Mate, I used to fish that area when I was a little tacker, we used to sneak into the old military area in Bantry Bay until someone saw us and used to chase us out! Bummer you lost those two lures / fish! It's always worse to not see the one that got away, I generally release but it's always better to know what it was! Take care.

Wow my old hunting ground.
We used to get Mackeral huge tailor jewies and huge bream
Bream were a long secret of mine only bite in certain conditions and light gear.

There are some very big sharks lurking. up there I first started fishing it over 65 years ago when the old wooden bridge was there, but I never put my toe in the water because I knew what was there the lady was taken there knee-deep ; a few years later I got a plastic canoe when they came out I used to fish exactly where that guy is until one day a shark just Rose next to me. It was 14 foot long the shark and my canoe the same length had a huge girth on it. I took my runabout from then on.
