One of the things I liked about the Federation's portrayal is that there's an actual variation between the soldier's accents, sure the accents skew heavily towards Caribbean variants and somehow nobody in the Federation speaks Portuguese, but you can still appreciate that IW made an effort to not portray them as simple caricatures or stereotypes
Man the federation goes so fucking hard, they're an actual compelling villain instead of just some random generic bad guys like in modern warfare where makarovs whole justification is "I want the russian empire back"
If you read the hidden files and some game history it implies that at one point Argentina was the last free S. American nation left. They flat out refused to join the Federation and this led to war. General Amalgro led the invasion and occupation of Argentina and even launched a artillery strike that devastated Buenos Areis. This was what led to the US attack on Caracas in 2014 that saw Almagro die and Rorke lost.
This timeline is kinda cool. Russia, China, US, NATO and India were all working together because of the Federation and fighting Federation proxies in Asia.
Rorke was arguably the perfect COD villain because he was a brilliant tactician and knew the Ghosts playbook so well that they were forced to rely on more unconventional tactics in order to defeat him.
The Odin crater sized plot hole of Ghosts is how Caracas, Rio, Sao Paulo, Mexico City and others weren't deleted in nuclear strikes like 30 minutes after the hijack of Odin.
I'm Brazilian, and I absolutely love the Federation. Besides having drip, and one of the best fictional flags imo, I think they are a good representation of what South America could have been without so many internal problems and foreign intervention. We are almost never represented in the media, so it was really cool to see Brazil and all its neighbors showing their true potential and going toe to toe with a superpower.
The whole killing Americans thing is a bit over the top, but it does have some truth to it. Many people here see the US and other world powers as treacherous manipulators who have prevented and continue to prevent us from developing properly, and who have done us a lot of harm by interfering in our affairs in the past.
Remember that episode in How I Met Your Mother when Marshall found papers on Barney's desk when he got called in to be Barney's lawyer and he said if these aren't handled properly then they'll end up in a war with Portugal? This is the alternate timeline of Barney having messed up and Portugal with its South American client state Brazil has created the Federation to get back at the US. Basically, it's all Barney Stinson's fault.
