Another great video! Finally someone who gets it. I'm tired of all these comic YouTubers putting out content like comic books are going to their road to riches on hot top 10 list and speculations. Sooner than later they all have to come to terms when it comes to selling their collection.

My comics aren’t worth anything because I’m not selling.  That’s my kids’ problem after I’m gone.

This doesn't sound like comic book collecting.  It sounds more like comic book investing. It is all about the money.

I sell on Facebook in Tijuana but I also treat that part as a hobby as well.  I have made sales this way and its been fun meeting new collectors and learning about the market in Mexico (im from San diego).  I also just recently been upgrading my photos to look more professional and offer to source books from the USA to customers here.  Yea to sell consistently you need to treat it like a part time job...very true statement.

Every single person selling comics on Facebook Marketplace needs to hear this

As comic book collectors, I think we should all get comfortable with letting go of books after that first 500 or so. That means being willing to sell, trade, or donate books that no longer interest us. Don’t wait until you’ve accumulated 5,000 books to convince yourself you need to downsize.

If you’re buying more comics than you’re realistically able to read within a reasonable timeframe, then congratulations—you’re probably overspending on your hobby. Collecting should be enjoyable, not something that constantly piles up faster than you can keep up with.

It doesn't matter what you collect, collectors don't buy whole collections. If they do, they don't pay full market value. If you are selling whole collections, it is to resellers who pay a fraction of the market value so they can make money. This is pretty basic stuff. The best way to sell off your collection is slowly, and to different collectors. It takes a long time to do, but you get the most value out of your collection that way.

You couldn't be more wrong; so many more people are getting into comics, and people from the past are coming back into it. Yes, comics aren't going to make you rich; we all know that, and that's not why we collect. But that doesn't mean they don't have value or that people don't want them. Who knows what the future has in store...

It took me 2 freaking years to sell off all my comics and I’ve been selling for years. When I decided to quit selling completely eBay was damn near useless it took forever. I set up at every local comic swap and con to eventually sell off everything. And the bulk fillers my final swap here I did 0.50 bins to completely get rid of everything completely. I honestly urge anyone selling off everything do local shows it’s your best option.

Best way to get maximum profit is to have your collection insured with an insurer that will financially replace the collection . Then have them torched and claim the replacement value .

Everything is worth whatever someone is willing to pay at the end of the day. I will say as for big vs little, there are far more people buying lower value than higher value simply because not everyone has that kinda spending money so the real question can never be asked because there's not just one level of buyer to ask. Ask a man who makes poverty level wages or a little over what he would rather do, save up for a year to buy one book he'll most likely never read or buy a book every week that he can enjoy and if done right sell off later on for a couple bucks to fund the next one. Not trying to be down on any ideas but this is just the aspect of the lower end guy, majority of comic buyers aren't spending over $10 to $20 on a single book cause this very reason, we know the return isn't there and we know we don't wanna save up that long for one book when the quantity appeals to the eye in a room better in a collection

Comics do have liquidity issues but i would say it will hit boomers collections the hardest. What may save them is how many are jumping ship out pokemon as their liquidity is frozen in INSANE valuations and scalping.

I have over 2000 Spawn Universe comic books and CLZ says 82500 $.... Maybe one day maybe after I'm gone someone wants the whole collection. I'm from Europe and to get all the US variants was really fun and a lot of work. Maybe my kids keep them and say that's so cool to have them all! You never know what the futur holds, I juste do it for the passion. Anyways thanks for your opinion on it.

To be fair even if the comic for sale was cheap people wont buy instantly anymore they take a longer time to buy, this includes anything not just comics. Because of the economy people dont have as much money. & if a book sells for less doesnt mean its worth less, some people sell for less cause they maybe in a bad situation

if someone is selling their collection for less than you, then they want to sell it more than you do - but i am always flexible when i sell, its surprising how many people dont want to give you anything (if im asking $600 for a comic and you want to offer $300 for it, why should i take it from you, there might be 3 offers of the same amount but if somebody offers to trade a comic i 'want' for a comic im selling and some money then they are getting my comic, you gotta sweeten the deal) - collection value is usually for insurance purposes, you lose your collection you are highly unlikely to get the same thing back in exactly the same condition and its the issues that are not worth any money that will be the hardest to replace, motivating dealers to even stock them is hard work in some cases and interestingly most of the comics that are cheap value in my collection are my fave books

I just sold a 612 comic book collection for 32,000$........ I'm confused. How are people not selling their books for what they are worth? It may take time to find the right person but if you are just trying to get rid of it fast you WILL lose money.

No one wants to put in the time and effort to sell the collection themselves. Like almost anything else if you’re selling in bulk people will want a discount.
