Mortal Kombat 4: The Version I Wish Came Out In 1997

When Mortal Kombat 4 was released in the Arcades, I was BLOWN away by the graphics… but not in a good way. I was disappointed they went the way of 3D, or was transitioning into at least. What I really wanted, along with many others, was another fully digitized version including real life actors. What would it have been like? Watch as we take a look at this incredible version or Mortal Kombat 4 Kompete!

Enjoy!

I thought back to when I stopped playing MK as a young adult and it was after playing the terrible 3D MK4. This version would have kept me invested longer.

MK4 just didn't work. They tried to be ambitious with the 3D (to keep up with Tekken and Virtua Fighter and those sort of games that were huge on Playstation) but in doing so they totally lost the vibe of the original games. The whole point of difference of MK was the digitised fighters. MK4 was just garbage.

now this is exactly how Mortal Kombat games should be digitized They totally ruined Mortal Kombat games by changing the mechanics of the games started with MK 4.

There's a 2D version of MK4 that shipped installed on the micro/Retro Sega Genesis I bought at a dollar store. It plays terribly with 3 buttons. All of the unofficial games on that system are pretty bad though.

Jareks sprite looks like Kramer.

Should of made Street Fighter 4 in 2D as well.

this is absolutely amazing. would've been way better as a release. the character animation is absolutely spot on despite being made up of various other characters
