5:44 STALKER is essentially a scenario where the Zone was as we know it today to a certain point, but secret experiments over conjoining human conciousness were conducted. The research took place there because the exclusion zone was, much as in reality, unaccessible to the public and (in the game canon) already had a lot of underground infrastructure ready to be reused. The point where game plot diverges from reality is when a second catastrophe at CNPP happened, essentially resulting in creation of a sentient Zone controlled by a hivemind, where physics were altered.
The main point of intrest at the CNPP and below the sarcophagus in the game was supposed to be something known as the Monolith, which was a myth built around what was actually a mind control device meant to lure people in to take control over them and add them to the hive mind. But the actual real-world objects such as the elephant's foot or other corium masses were never mentioned in the game as far as I know.
That's also just a brief summary, the series itself is really amazing, and so is the world it created. Really moved my imagination and roused my intrest of the real Chernobyl back when I first played ot as a kid
As someone who worked on STALKER GAMMA, the Elephants foot is in the game but nothing within the story is based on it. You’re thinking of “The Wish Granter” where it’s said that those who reach the core get untold riches or whatever they wish for, specifically.
I just wanted to say that I have been watching you videos and Instagram clips for a while now, and I really appreciate the way you explain things. I have developed a much greater understanding of nuclear and radiological subjects due to your explanations. Thank you for your great videos!
Stalker is a series made by a Ukrainian dev team that's been going on for a LONG time now, it has a lot of fantastical/sci-fi elements to it, including an alternate timeline where a second explosion occurs in 2006 due to unethical psychic/nootropic experimentation that causes physics and reality to begin breaking apart inside the exclusion zone. But the real elements, the exclusion zone, Pripyat, multiple local areas and the CNPP itself are all recreated as faithfully as possible, particularly in the most recent release. It's a fasinating franchise that was my, and I'm sure many others, first exposure to the Chernobyl event and inspired an interest in this piece of modern history!
Yes , Stalker, please play it 😁😁 !!! A very good game. One of my most favorite , after the Half Life series. Im a big fan of your channel. Cheers , from Estonia
Glad to see you enjoying TCG, again. And having the chance to expand on many of the details about the clean-up. Beyond the modern slang about a frozen bar, "Klondike" refers to a rich environment, where gains can be made. It is also extremely unpredictable and dangerous. It's an old saying datng back to the prospectors and the Gold Rush in the Yukon. I can see it having been used in regards to the changng conditions in the sub-reactor spaces.
I totally made a tshirt with Tyler's quip about Chernobyl spelunking using Google Gemini...it turned out so good I might get it made into an actual shirt ..."Olympic sarcophagus spelunking team, 1986"
This golden moment … playing Stalker 2 while listening to Tyler mention Stalker. Awesome. There are many anomalies to collect and avoid but I haven’t run into The Elephant’s Foot in either game. I hope it’s in S2 since the actual Chernobyl Plant is in this one!
