"The Zygon Inversion", also known as "Peter Capaldi Proves Once Again That He is One of the Finest Actors of Our Time".

I've read that he apparently did that speech in one take.

As a former soldier I completely understand what the Doctor says here
I felt his rage in his words and I understood them.
That phrase, "no one else will ever have to live like this. No one else will have to feel this pain. Not in my watch" became my mantra, I'm not a time traveling alien, but at least I'll do my best to help the people around me.

25:53 I love how Capaldi’s voice breaks and how he turns away as he says “and when I close my eyes”, as if he can actually see the horrors the Doctor, merely a character he is playing, has seen. He’s such a good actor and he does an incredible job of making the Doctor and his experiences feel real.

The best anti-war speech ever. I saw a video of Ian McKellan doing the same speech, and it was NOWHERE near what Capaldi did with it. I say it all the time, but he was born for this role. He IS the Doctor. No other Doctor could have pulled off that speech. Credit to Moffat for writing it, but without Capaldi's brilliance, it's just words.

God, I remember when this aired. The part of his speech where he yells “sit down and talk!” was the exact moment Capaldi became my Doctor. He’s just so friggin good.

I had this on just listening and I was just weeping at work and someone had to check on me. Lord what the World needs now is a Doctor.

The moment where Capaldi brought the masses on board. He was my favourite since maybe even as early as Into The Dalek but this series really shows you how much Peter Capaldi had dreamed of being the Doctor his entire life; that speech comes from deep in the soul and I'm not sure any other actor who has played the role could pull it off.

This speech is so good, and the older I get, the more things I see and hear about, the more it resonates and rings true. I remember watching it for the first time and laughing and crying at the same time because it was just so quintessentially the Doctor. He won with words alone. He defeated the danger with the power of his perspective and his wisdom and I was never more proud to be a Doctor WHO fan. There are great Doctor speeches all across the 60 years it's been on, but few supply the punch-the-sky victory that this one does, while also hitting you solidly in the Feels.

The scenes with Osgood and the Doctor after the plane blew up were filmed in my hometown, Barry. Around an area called the Cold Knap

we should have a rule that everyone in charge of a country should have to watch this speech before making any world changing decision

"The longest month" takes on new meaning when you tie it in with "that is what you said the past 15 times".

Maybe, just maybe, Clara just doesn't remember the past month.

And people keep saying Capaldi wasn't a good Doctor...

I1ll be quick to admit he got some less than stellar scripts to work with sometimes, but the speech in this episode alone proved to me that he absolutely deserved to play the Doctor.

I've seen so many reactions where they cut some of the speech, or talk over it too much, thank you so much for showing it all and your amazing reaction to it. It truly is one of the finest moments in this show's history. I love every actor who has played the Doctor. I don't think any of them are miscast, but for my money, Peter Capaldi is the finest ACTOR to have ever played the Doctor.

Season 9 has some absolutely incredible episodes and moments, that speech being one of them! Probably the best Doctor speech there's ever been (although tbf he did get to practice it 14 times already, so that's probably why it's so perfect!)

@Shintigercurl 8 months ago

this one speech encapsulated everything that makes the doctor who he is: his unmatched wrath, unending guilt, his unrelenting sorrow and his unequaled kindness.

One of the best Doctor Who speeches ever, this is why I love the 12th doctor/Peter Capaldi and this speech is one of the reasons why he's my favourite doctor. Great Reaction.

"5 rounds rapid" is a Brigadier quote btw :)

This speech is in my top 5 speeches in all of fiction. Funny how I also just realized my top 5 speeches are either a call to arms or anti war. No in between 😂

Long time watcher, rare commenter.
Up till this episode Peter Capaldi was my favourite NuWho Doctor after this one and episodes to come he cemented himself in my heart as MY Doctor. Have been watching since Doctor number 3 and have loved them all but Capaldi he represents everything the Doctor means to me his Kindness above all else and Capaldi himself is just as Kind 😊
