The Entire Saga of "Run you clever boy and remember" ends with him forgetting.

The doctor was literally standing in the ruins of Gallifrey with Me, ready to destroy all of time to save Clara.

Theres an interesting through-line between this episode and the Wedding of River Song in this episode I didnt notice until recently.
River to the Doctor: "You are loved, so much and by so many, and by no-one more than me."
Clara to the Time Lords: "You are hated, so much and by so many, and by no-one more than me."
Also the diner from the Impossible Astronaut, and Nevada environs all hark back to the series 6 arc.

“Who the hell does he think he is?”
“The man who won the Time War.”

Honesty the biggest flex and rarely used

This was meant to be Steven Moffat’s farefell run.

Heaven Sent, Hell Bent, and the upcoming Christmas Special was his planned exit, but no-one was ready to take over.

So instead we get Season 10, which imo gives an EVEN BETTER concluding 3 episodes by Moffat!

"Four and a half billion years." That kills me every time. The look on Clara's face says it all and the music score there just ramps up the emotion to 12. Clara will always be my favorite.

8:43 The Doctor. The Man who can turn an army round by the mention of his name. River Song was so right about that.

All the way back, Series 8 Episode 1, near the very end, 12 says "it's like you're looking right at me and you can't see me. Please, just see me"
33:18 Clara with the look: "damn, so thats what that feels like"

I love that Me and Clara, two essentially immortal beings, get to travel through space and time together. I remember watching this for the first time and absolutely bawling for like half an hour

I really like how the Hybrid gets resolved. The Time Lords were so afraid of the prophecy they accidentally caused it to come true, just not in the way they expected. The Doctor and Clara are two warrior races, they stand in the ruins of Gallifrey with Ashildr at the end of the universe, the Doctor trying to save Clara threatens to fracture the web of time, and the Doctor dying for 4.5 billion years broke “billions of hearts to heal its own”. Making that deal with Ashildr and getting Clara killed was a huge mistake for the Time Lords in the end.
It’s a great way to resolve the character arcs that the Doctor and Clara have been going on, and it’s just a gorgeous episode. Clara and the Doctor stand at the end as true equals, even though he can’t see her, just as she couldn’t in Deep Breath.

Peter Capaldi is about to go on tour in the U.K with his band.   And he fronted a band while he was in art school. A dream deferred  for over 40; years, finally coming true. (And yes, he sings.)  🥰

~ "Every story ever told is true..." This is actually Steven Moffat's stated philosophy regarding Doctor Who, along with RTD's. According to them, due to the nature of the show's very premise, when considering alternate timelines, universes, etc., literally anything is possible. Therefore every story ever told about the Doctor is true. In other words, everything is considered canon. Every show, every novel, every comic, every fanfic ever written: it's all canon. Of course, not everyone agrees with this philosophy, but since Moffat and RTD are in charge, that's the official stance on canon. This is also why they will never change anything in the show that the fans disagree with or largely dislike, but you've a long way to go before you get to any of that.
~ During this season as it aired, there was a lot of speculation that the "Hybrid" would be the Doctor being half Time Lord, and half Human. This is going back to the 1996 TV Movie with Paul McGann, in which at one point he states this to be the case. It was a storyline that was never picked up in the revival in 2005, and everyone assumed it was just forgotten and ignored as a path no one wanted to follow. During this season, some feared they might go back to it, and a lot of fans were relieved when it wasn't the case. However, if you go along with Moffat's opinion canon, that possibility is still there.

What made Moffat SO good is that he has the heart of a poet or philosopher, not just a writer. The lines man... The lines scatter all through, but especially here. Stories are where memories go when they're forgotten.

Maybe some of them become songs.

I absolutely love the detail of the paint falling of the TARDIS as it harks back to the leaf in Clara's book from Series 7

Doctor steals a Tardis, yet again doesn't turn the brake off.

"I had a duty of care" :((((((((

Series 9 is easily my favourite of all the New Who ones. And this ending still makes me cry after all these years. The way Clara stares in disbelief when the Karn lady says "four and a half billion years is enough on its own but when the Doctor says "I had a duty of care" I am in pieces and "Clara Who?" finishes me off.

Honestly, I could go for a spinoff called Clara & Me.

Clara’s exit gets me every time. These three episodes are insane. So good.

The impossible girl, is my all time favorite story arc.
