Great video. Glad the guys at Rekluse got you situated. I wish all KTM owners would watch this video as Iâve found almost nobody understands the Bellville design. Your steels had definitely warped, they check the stack at the factory for height and flatness. Rekluse makes phenomenal products. If you get the full clutch with hub you get even better oiling. Their cover also allows for extra oil which helps temps. I couldnât get a holeshot in 10+ motos using my 250sx against 450s. Got the Torqdrive plates and went 3 for 4 holeshots on my first race day with them. Excellent product
I've had this exact issue on my 350 XCF. I fought with it like crazy - I've rebuilt the hydraulics, reverse bled everything multiple times, double checked all the clutch plates and assembly (the steel rings have a direction) tried different oils etc etc. I also have a 300 XC-W and have had absolutely no issues. I'm going to check the rings again by laying them down on the table saw - which is very flat. But, I think I may have to just get another clutch pack. I'm encouraged that you got it working with the Reckluse and I may go for that option.
Oh man not sure how this video just popped out of the blue on my feed! But thats great one tk keep. Xcw300 2025 here with 68 hours. Came back home from a ride last week everything was fine since the day i got it. Then just started it after taking off the truck it was cold out in gear then it shut off! Im like wtf! Then yesterday i did reverse bleed for fresh fluid. Started it cold again out in gear and boom nothing happen. Normal again and engagement point got back to where it was. Im truly hope it is the case here for now but definitely will check those plate and rubber pieces your talking about in the clutch basket. Anyhow, rekluse clutch never sounds like a bad idea đ¤
Had a feeling bleeding my clutch wasn't going to help! Just hit 50 hours on my 300 xc-w and have been struggling with this exact problem the entire time. It's gotten a bit better but bike WILL stall if I'm idling, clutch pulled to the bar, and hit the rear brake.. especially noticable while coming down switchbacksđ I'm going to do some investigating inside my clutch cover and report back to this video. Thanks for the lead man!
Pretty sure this was happening to me too with my 500. I'd been riding it that way for close to 300 of its 600 hours at this point too lol. I tried every maintenance trick to get it feeling right again. I just installed the rekluse a week ago and that fixed it. feels like a brand new bike again. and 1 plate had burn marks on it, so that lines up with what you've discovered.
My 22 gasgas ex250 had drag from the showroom. Couldnât start it in gear without propulsion with clutch in, day after purchased service shop told me they were 3 weeks out and gave me their hourly rate. Iâm finally trying to fix mine as well.
Yes yes & yes, my Husaberg with the same clutch wonât go into N unless I tilt it on the stand and let the wheel spin, the clutch will be warped and dragging the plates
Also causing it to constantly stall in tight low rev scenarios, although rideable untill a new clutch arrives itâs painful and tiring to work around, and causing occasional strain in the starter
Good catch. Changing to Amsoil high zinc 10-40 helps, It is rated JASO MA. IT's not going to fix warped plates but will allow a little more slip than the JASO MA2 oils.
OK, I have to respectfully disagree with you. You warped your steals. Itâs very easy to do and itâs common. You didnât have to replace the whole clutch with the rekluse. If you just replaced the steel plates you wouldâve been back to normal operation. My buddies 2020 had this happen after one ride. Fortunately for him, I ride a rekluse from day one so I had my steals from my bike with zero hours on them problem fixed. In fact, I have a brand new set of plates in my garage that my buddy bought me as a replacement from Rocky Mountain that I can stack up zero warpage
