The missing volcano really pissed me off as a kid.
Every media about this island always has the volcano at the centre. Everything revolves around fire and magma and lava and volcano.

And then there's no volcano.

Every time I see Nidoking’s gen 1 sprite, I’m reminded why they’re one of my all times.

It's dope that the romhack creator reached out to you themselves and you took the time to play what they made to make a video on it!

The skill slot alone makes this worth a try, to say nothing of being able to find and catch every single Pokemon of the original gen 1. Thanks for highlighting a wonderful new fanmade work.

If this guy does Gen 2, as well, sign me up!

I only started playing this yesterday and am loving it so far.

Reading up on the QoL changes, this might be "the one." Seems to combine all the best changes from various other Gen 1 modernizations (Yellow Legacy, Pure RGB, etc.) Will probably give this one a try.

A few things I'd like to see, though: the Pokedex merely hints at base stats via graphical bars, it doesn't outright tell you the values. The game is also using the standard sprites (front and back), where a lot of similar modernizations give the option to use updated sprites (either from Yellow, or something like the Spaceworld '97 sprites).

This hack seems awesome! It has a lot of the stuff I love from Polished Crystal, which I highly recommend in case you want to keep looking at rom hacks (which would be super fun to see, imo). Also, it was fun seeing you play for a bit on stream! I'll try to catch you live more often :)

I like how this romhack seems to add to and improve the original games without changing too many things, which to me Yellow Legacy seemed to do.

This looks so good and definitely adds a lot of things I wish the originals had. Love the idea of quests aside from just collecting gym badges so that’s an awesome addition. Always thought it would be cool to have a crystal onix quest in rock tunnel. LOVE that cinnabar island actually had a volcano now, I never understood why it wasn’t there seemed so dumb. It’s a way to make that island a lot more interesting and also lean into the fire theme. One thing I would love with these games is a camping save. So instead of just saving then game, you press start, select camp and you pitch a tent, maybe it opens a mini camp area where your Pokemon are all out their pokeballs, you have a little camp fire and there’s some mini games. Then you save. I feel like it would just add to that adventure feel which is a big part of Pokemon.

As a metal musician who also loves Pokemon if you ever want some metal songs made for backing tracks... Let me know brother...

As far as romhacks for Gen 1, I would strongly suggest Pokemon Yellow Legacy. It possesses many of the QoL features found here, the Pikachu gets double badge boosts so he's viable throughout the game, all 151 pokemon are obtainable (yes, even Mew, in a postgame event), and gyms are rebalanced and the mid-game gyms will have their teams based on the number of badges you have. If you face Sabrina as Gym 4, her team will be a modest set ending with her Kadabra ace with Psybeam. If you wait until you face her as Gym 7, however, you'll find her ace to be an Alakazam with Psychic.

Another passion project that shows love to the series. A nostalgic update with moden twist. Beautiful!

The replacing TMs as skills is chef’s kiss. I’m replaying through FR and the idea of not having to put Cut, Strength& Rock Smash on my team’s moves sounds like a dream. Love to try all these changes. I’d love to see a Yume Leaf Green version.

Shin and Yume are next level experiences.
Basically do you want a more traditional version focused on fixes with options for added difficulty (I quite enjoy it)
Or do you want Gen 1 with more fleshed out areas and more to explore.

You’ve gotta try some other ROM hacks. The sheer amount of effort that goes into many of them is staggering.

The grunt at 9:17 was like: dude, there's this kid coming and I don't want to get beaten up, man. .... Jeez he's here, ah FFS I just have to look mean, I hope he avoids me then.  Goes from out of bounds into the room

It really looks like a lot of work and passion of PokéfanMarcel and his team have gone in to Yume.
The romhack looks amazing and I can’t wait to give it a go after beating Renegade Platinum.
Thank you for another great video.💪

Thanks for showcasing these romhacks, got em installed on my 3DS and super excited to play
