Love the new lesbian haircut

The haircut is unexpected

The dry ahh plant behind him 😭

yes it does matter when its not used as a retort to the struggles that women face

The problem with “men’s mental health matters” discourse when it comes from men speaking about their mental health, they use poor mental health as an attack against women and make it seem like men’s mental health is poor because of women, when the reality is, we live in a patriarchal society, so men’s mental health is poor because of patriarchy, because under this system, men are told what a “real man” is, and it’s a toxic standard pushed onto men, just like being a “real woman” is a toxic standard pushed onto women. Patriarchy negatively impacts men, as it does women, but too many people assume it’s feminism’s fault, when feminism is advocating for equality and the dismantling of this toxic patriarchal structure that demands perfection of us all, regardless of gender.

OK NEW HAIRCUT DIVA

they DO matter but equality does too

id like to add my insight as a woman undergoing a mental health crisis myself.

the stigma around men being unable to show their emotions for fear of seeming weak is itself rooted in misogyny. the idea that men are the stronger, smarter, more "logical", all around superior sex which means that women must be the opposite. emotions are broadly seen as a "feminine" thing, and therefore a bad thing because femininity is perceived as weak and inferior regardless of the gender of the person presenting it.

women do not get that same stigma regarding their mental health being associated with weakness. not because our mental health is taken any more seriously, its very much brushed off, but because we are already percieved as weak and overemotional by default. in that context, we do not "become" weak by expressing our feelings, we are inherently weak no matter how we act. so its unsurprising to many (usually men as they generally have a very poor understanding of our mental health), when a woman has a mental health crisis. to them, nothing seems out of the ordinary. she is dismissed as simply having a hysterical fit that she will calm down from if you ignore her. overdramatic. assumed to be looking for attention. misdiagnosed if she seeks professional help. even sometimes having her entire emotional state boiled down to whether or not she is on her period. these problems lead to many women, myself included, bottling up their emotions. all of this is speaking from my own experience.

men and women both struggle and we should take each other seriously and help each other instead of competing in mental health olympics

at my school they were showing examples of 'male role models' to the class, and MR BEAST came up on the board.  i looked around, but nobody else around me even seemed  to be reacting, and i just thought—we have LOST the plot.

everyone’s mental health matters! people need to stop comparing their mental health. women can be struggling and so can men gender doesn’t always determine somebody’s issues

As a trans guy, it's a bit of a culture shock trying to find male friends. I was always more comfortable around girls or not super masculine guys. Hearing from other guys that a lot of "being a single guy" is just feeling lonely really sucks, especially when im so used to being more open with my firneds about my thoughts & feelings

mens mental health does matter, but it shouldnt be on women to help them. Women help other women with their mental health, and men should learn how to do that for each other too.

i think that it’s important that men’s mental is spoken about more often cause there is a stigma that men showing emotion means they’re weak which isn’t the case. also did ben get a haircut or am i blind 😭

Three words: Yes, it does. (But they do not need to be treated like tough men nor babies)

We need more men like Ben✊😌

I really hate that suicide argument, when women are more likely to commit and have suicidal thoughts than men. It’s really interesting, read about the “gender suicide paradox” if you want to learn more. I’m not saying male suicide is not important, it’s just so commonly used to put down women’s mental health problems that I just become so desensitized to it.

Everyone’s mh matters brotatos

This video couldn’t have come at a better time.
Right now in South Africa, we’re speaking out against the gender-based violence happening in our country. A woman here is six times more likely to be sexually assaulted than the global average, and many people are turning their profile pictures purple in solidarity. 💜

And yet, some men are suddenly “raising awareness” about men’s mental health just to pull the spotlight back onto themselves. Men’s mental health matters, but it often seems to be brought up only when women are part of the conversation.

How are we, as women, expected to care about men’s mental health when so many men don’t care about it themselves?

5:19 ben having to explain what "gooner" is ABSOLUTELY frying me😭
