My Mom was born there and used to play in the Bomb Damaged buildigs after the war with old Gas Masks and only moved out because of The Slum Clearance. Because the houses were owned by private landlords and when Birmingham City Council bought the neighbourhood of Balsall Heath and destroyed most of the Back to Back`s .She was born during February 1947 alone because the Snow was that bad even The Mid-Wife could not make it to Vincent Parade which was demolished but a New Housing complex sits there retaining it`s original name .
Yes there is a a council strike but it doesn't matter. This area has many people from other parts of the world whose thoughts on hygiene are massively different from the uk. You cannot tell them that they live in a dump because they get upset. A lot of people who live in this area come from countries where they deficate in the street in broad daylight.
It may look like a shanty town but I still love it. I've been all over the UK in the last 32 years you name it and not just the people of Balsall Heath but Birmingham as a whole are the friendliest people in the UK. I can approach and talk to everyone on the street without any fear whatsoever, even to the Muslim women and girls in hijab who are normally more reserved and shy in talking to men and strangers and you can never find that anywhere else in the UK and the lad on the bike said it all that everyone looks out for eachother and he'd never move out of the area. The only thing is we need to do something about all the rubbish on the streets, and that's it otherwise it is the best area you can wish to live in.
Nice video. The other side of Balsall Heath is also Moseley Road, all the way down to the Cricket Ground via Edward Road. A bit cleaner on that side with a smaller high street of shops
Lived there in the 70s off Clifton road was clean and tidy then, the shit hit the fan from the early eighties and it slowly moved up the Stratford road ,sparkbrook, sparkhill and heading towards hall green.glad I got out in the eighties.
17:00 i lived around there in the 1990s, that Garden centre was run by aging hippies at the time. I remember someone called Ms Wilks that was involved. I guess they packed up. Glad to see its still a garden centre
Hi, I'm new to your channel, you have respect for people's privacy, thats great 👍🏽 all the best, will be good to see you grow. Regards to rubbish without sounding bad, the vast majority of these folk are used to living in these conditions, their own countries are worse than this, some even scavenge the trash for food. This green and pleasant land is luxury to them. Its an awful shame but going back is impossible, this is the new 'Great' Britain 😢 Don't forget the flies that are landing on the food outside the shops is also landing on the mountains of rubbish thats rotting right next to it 😂
Just found your channel, really enjoying your content! Can't believe you you went to Ladypool road! It's a completely different place at night, very dangerous. You should come to Kings Heath! Good luck with your channel 🫡
