Hey everyone, today we're taking a look at yet another ThinkPad. This one here is the Lenovo ThinkPad P15 Gen 2. For only £400 you get a Xeon CPU, Nvidia RTX Graphics and something quite special. Stick around to find out. Is this deal too good to be true?

The Lenovo ThinkPad P15 Gen 2, equipped with an Intel Xeon W-11855M processor and an NVIDIA RTX A3000 GPU, is a high-performance mobile workstation. It's built for demanding professional tasks like CAD, 3D rendering, video editing, and other compute-intensive applications.

BTW, the RTX A3000 GPU is equivalent to the GTX 1080/RX 5700 Desktop. See: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs...

Anyone who says 400 for this machine isn't a steal is completely out of their gourd

companies who solder everything on montherboard see thinkpads in their dreams and scream at 3 am. i'd love to have this beast of a machine someday.

10 months on and the ram disaster has pushed the 32gb version of this laptop up to almost £600 in the UK. What a time to be alive.

Thank you, you've made me obsess over this.
Less than a month later, I am the owner of a P15 v1, 4k, xeon, A5000, 64GB, pristine look, no locks.

You can easily defeat Windows Autopilot by wiping the entire drive and installing Linux

@LennySharer9 1 year ago

The Windows Autopilot can be bypassed with Rufus lol

That's my next ThinkPad, saving money to catch a good deal on Ebay. Thanks for the review 👍🏻

I have a very similar machine- P15 Gen 1 with 10855 Xeon / 64GB / 4k OLED touch / 8GB in RAID 0. Extremely impressive workstation for simulating domain environments from servers, domain controllers, etc., to gaming if you are into that. They already reached their price floor and have begun going up like everything else has now.

Solid machine for $400. My work laptop is a dell 7670 with 12950hx, 128gb ram, and a A3000 12gb which has good performance in Creo and Comsol. Watching ebay to see if I can snag something like that for a reasonable price.

Dude your making it popular. That's not good. This was a hidden gem no one knew about...

I Have a similar thinkpad (P52) with 64GB RAM , i7 , P3200 maxQ Quadro GPU . It is a beast but it is a computer for engineers mainly. I use it for CAD , fluid dynamics and structural mechanics simulations etc . High end CAD programs are certified on Quadro and A series GPUs since those are professional type and hence the high prices out of the box. Solid build quality and performance, top machine and worth the money if you find one refurbished or whatever

to bypass autopilot the way i do it, is i install windows 10 1809 (old but gold) on an ssd and then i upgrade with feature updates to latest windows 10 and as long as the windows version is old enough to not have autopilot in the oobe itll work fine. ive used this method to get around autopilot on modern HP probook laptops and it works better than formatting with a fresh install as the bios is usually locked
