Yes..there are negatives, but the possibility of going camping twice a year and the bonus style points plus the way driving a modded car makes ya feel..WORTH IT!

Haha the sand falling out the bottom of the car during the brake test!!

Thank you for including that fuel figure breakdown at the end... no one else has done it like this.

Crazy to think a roof rack makes so much drag that it'll cost an extra litre/100

you should redo the caravan towing now with the prado - it would be really interesting to see the effect of all the mods on the on road towing performance

Needs to do a trip through the middle of Australia in the 250 now.

You do a great job in covering mods and all the pluses and minuses - I think you are head and shoulders above most reviewers in this area.  People forget to mention that usually anything you do to improve off-road will unfavourably impact on-road performance.

Scrubbing was caused from the upper control arm that corrects caster angles. An adjustable control arm would help restore the alignment needs while allowing the fine tuning to get the tire to have full clearance between the fenders.

Bugger me you taught me something I've not thought about, accidental button pushes.

@Ronny Dahl at 5:07 during the braking, I realize that you have camber adjustment bolts on that lower arm but damn boy, that's a lot of movement in that bushing

Use an electric polisher on the floor carpet to vibrate in one hand and vacuum in the other, should get most of the sand up.

I like the sneak peak of the Grenadier with the norweld tray on the back at 525

Another good video. Real world considerations because for most of us the car we take bush occasionally is our daily drive too. I don't think many people actually think about these things when they put it into the workshop to get the mods done and the sales guys don't talk about it.

I can agree that some modifications can be worse on the street vs OffRoad. My favorite is those that get giant wagon wheels with rubber band mud terrains and question why they have horrible traction in rain and snow!

As for the Bull Bar on the street! I agree. Too many animal strikes in my experience making me justify the Bull Bar!

great vid ronny!

Been following you for a while brother, and have relied on your guidance over the last year as i picked up an ex council cab chas ranger and have made it a capable 4x4 ,   she has the essentials bullbar , rocksliders winch, a 2" lift supplied by outback armor ( cannot recommend more highly)  TIRES ...  I started with a set of dunlop 225/95/16's and when i had the cash i splurged and got a set of steelies fitted with 285/75/16 Baja Boss' .   She looked soo goooooood,  BUT ,  she drove like shit on the highway , went from 800lkm /75ltr  to 550klm ...  only got into 6th going downhill .. labored everywhere , watch the boost hardly drop away and felt for the auto... she blew both sides of the steering rack end when it got rough,  AND The worst bit was that because it didn't have the berries to drive the wheels i was getting bogged in places i would previously have simply skipped over .  Too much tire ,  gone back to skinnies ..

You can adjust the castor to stop scrubbing. Suspension installer should align it properly.

Fantastic episode as usual, love the sand escaping on the brake test.
Have you thought about a simple fridge slide with a slide our table, not sure if one is made??

@Ronny_Dahl it would be interesting to do an episode on the strength of the Prado's driveline (including axles) especially on how do they could withstand the larger tires. Maybe compare it to the older prado and other toyota models.

Ronny to stop your diff locker activating while on highway it is a simple fix just hook your locker up to your 4WD light through a relay  so it only comes on when you are in 4WD you can even hook up your electric aerial so it goes down when in 4WD to stop it from getting damaged in the bush

Finally! you hit on the info we all have to deal and because we're ok with it for what we want in our on/off road ride. All about "choice" 👍👍👍
