Anyway, thanks for the time and effort you put into these videos, plus the initiative to get Matt involved to share his thoughts. Cheers
Thanks heaps for the informative and down to earth review of the 300 series.
You mentioned that in Australia it would be quite difficult if not impossible to find a standard tow vehicle without running into load limit issues that would require vehicle modifications. I would like to suggest a vehicle that can be driven out from the dealer with a fitted towbar and bullbar that in fact would require no modification (engineered) to tow a 3500kg caravan, carry passengers and reasonable gear. This vehicle has downsides and would not be suitable for some, however can meet the requirements you descibed.
This vehicle has a GVM of 3500Kg, a tow capacity of 3500kg and a GCM of 7100kg (the GCM allowing full loading of both vehicle and caravan!!!!)
Standard features built in drive away from the dealership. Front & rear lockers, 180L fuel, 33 inch light truck tyres, raised air intake, Auto trans & canopy built in.
Interestingly you tube reviews have commented that this vehicle is a better tow vehicle (within rated load limits) than the Ford Super Duty (did not power derate under load like the Ford did)
Hope your viewers watching your great review, researching a suitable tow vehicle, don't overlook the Toyota 78 series Troopy.
Thanks
On the subject of trans oil temps - do you tow in “D” (drive) or “sport” and manually pick your gear ?
Agree with the choice of using a suitable grade if oil - have you had any issues getting Toyota dealers to use 5W-30 ?
Safe travels
Cheers
