one of my favorite movies as a kid was the parent trap, and to this day it remains one of the best rom-com family-dramas of all time (at least in my opinion) and it doesn't hurt that it has some amazing style moments. i decided to take a look at the outfits of the four main female characters in the parent trap, who has your favorite looks?

The detail of adding Lip Smackers, nail polish, and hair accessories to the poker pool was always one of my favorites from this movie! It felt so authentic to girlhood from that era 🤍

Rest in Peace, Natasha Richardson. It makes sense that Elizabeth always looked so glamorous and put together in her cream and beige suits, since she was a famous fashion designer. It's obvious where Annie inherited her style choices from.

I feel like modern movies often miss the mark on having the wardrobe follow the storyline. This was a great video

I always believed that Elizabeth was based off of Princess Diana from the physical appearance to the wardrobe. And Meredith always gave me Marilyn Monroe, but villainous. Some movie choices I recommend is Gone with the Wind, Marie Antoinette and Black Swan.

I never knew the hidden detail of the watches matching their missing parents! That’s incredible!! Just another reason to adore this movie.

This film has cemented my love of ’90s fashion and female lead stories. Fun fact: the costume designer Penny Rose also did the costumes for the Pirates of the Caribbean movies

Will never get over how messed up it was they not only separated their daughters but also had 0 contact with one of them 😂

If it wasn’t for the summer camp those two might never know they were sisters!

idk, i think meredith would want a slinky, sexy wedding dress. she doesn't seem like the princess type and she emphasizes her sex appeal with every other outfit she wears. the corset part of a ballgown, sure, but not the figure hiding skirt lol

I love the detail of the white wedding veil hat that Hallie chooses versus the black hat Meredith is wearing when we meet her. Elizabeth asks Hallie to choose a hat for the model to wear, and Hallie comes back with options: a black and a white one. Elizabeth asks her which one she likes, and Hallie says the white one. Elizabeth agrees. Then we meet Meredith wearing "the black one," foreshadowing how no one's going to like her.

(Looks up from a wide brimmed hat) “Being young and beautiful is not a crime, you know.”

I'm sad you didnt mention in the part about hallie wearing pearl earrings -- the way she marveled at her mom's stuff, finally getting to have a parent that shares her more feminine side! It made me tear up, it's such a sweet detail

I for my childhood had thought the twin that put the lizard in Meredith’s head was Halle for their personalities but after my most recent watch I realized it was Annie since she, like Meredith, was struggling in the walk while Halle was ahead and knew the way

Meredith and Elizabeth really show that accessories and make-up make all the difference.

in my mind, hallie and annie’s dad was the black sheep of a very wealthy family with a trust fund thus funding his vineyard and their mom was the daughter of a british banking or real estate heir. i mean, the london house is basically palatial and london is literally one of, if not the most expensive city to live in in the world. so, you do the math.

I’ve never clicked on a ModernGurlz video so fast, this movie raised me 😭

I was always obsessed with Annie's Chanel inspired plaid blazer and skirt combo, as well as the majority of the outfits she sported. I also liked that Hallie and Chessy both donned denim and flannel, to convey their outdoorsy, tomboyish vibes, compared to Annie, Elizabeth and Meredith.

Would love to see a style analysis for Uptown Girls!

Natasha literally stole the show for me… she looks absolutely ravishing. Elegant, classy and gorgeous.. May she rest in peace 🕊️

15:43 my guess is that the one that Nick said was Halle and then hesitated WAS actually Halle because Annie was sort of bad pretending to be Halle while Halle was very good posing as Annie, so i feel Annie would have broken the facade while Halle managed to pull it
