Matthew McConaughey loaned Matt Damon 60% of his accent for this role.

You've come a long way since your rom-com days. We are all very proud of you.❤

The Rainmaker is my favorite of the Grisham adaotations. Believable story, interesting characters, excellent writing. I loved how J. Lyman "Bruiser" Stone turned out to be sort of an anti-hero in this, corrupt as he was but helping Rudy and Dek to win their case.

The boys father in this movie is Red West. Red West was Elvis Presley’s best friend in junior high and high school. He eventually ended up being one of Elvis Presley’s main bodyguards aka “The Memphis Mafia”. Red West passed away a few years ago.

Lost in Translation was directed by his daughter Sofia.

I was hoping Roy Scheider aka Sheriff Brody from Jaws would have got recognition. 🧐

17:07 - I'm glad you said that. As an attorney that does trial work, I can tell you there's nothing glamorous about going to trial and the road leading up to trial is even less glamorous. I very often get clients that are anxious to go to court and I always tell them - give it some time - it will pass. You will feel differently. And they almost always do.

Matt Damon's landlady is played by actress Theresa Wright. She starred as Peggy in the movie, "The Best Years Of Our Lives".

Roy Scheider recieved a bone marrow transplant in 2005, for multiple myeloma. About 8 years after this films release.

Trivia Fact: that slick lawyer is John Voight, Angelina Jolie's father; and that jury member Mr. Porter who lunged at that lawyer is Randy Travis, the country and gospel singer.

Cassie, I’ve been with you since the beginning and I’ve never steered you wrong. Your Dad and husband and brother will confirm that you NEED to watch THE VERDICT. It’s not because it’s a “classic,” or critically acclaimed, or because you’ll “enjoy” it, or any of that nonsense. You just NEED to see it. Period.

11:36 I grew up with an alcoholic, Vietnam veteran father. It was decades before we got a full PTSD diagnosis and help for him. He didn’t hit my brother and I but I remember all those scary nights when he’d lay into my mom. It was a rough childhood, one that you don’t easily come back from. My heart goes out to anyone that’s ever experienced DV. I see you

28:20 39:45 A neat detail that's easy to miss is how Rudy learns to get around the 'repetitious' objection by "accidentally" moving the mic too far from the witness, then getting to them to repeat the damaging part once it's moved closer.

The actor who plays Clare Danes husband is Andrew Shue. He's Elizabeth Shue's brother!

The Rainmaker and A Time to Kill are my favorite Grisham adaptations. They didn't get the attention that The Firm and The Pelican Brief got, but I thought they were better. Also, I love the clever "reverse-jury-tampering" they pulled after discovering the office was bugged, freaking brilliant! Lol

The reason why it’s called John Grisham’s The Rainmaker because there was a movie called The Rainmaker which starred Burt Lancaster.

Sleepers is also a pretty good courtroom drama with a stacked cast. Although some parts are difficult to watch.

The Client is a must watch, as is The Pelican Brief, starring Denzel Washington and Julia Roberts. Ruthless People is also a good watch, although not a John Grisham adaptation, starring Danny de Vito and the wonderful Bette Midler.
