01:22 The Client's Daughter

Hello, this is Sounding Bookmark.

There is a secret private investigation agency called the "Detective Club," which is funded by membership fees from the wealthy and the social elite.

And five cases are meticulously investigated and solved through the Detective Club.

This is the main story of Keigo Higashino's serial short story collection, *The Detective Club*, published in 1990.

Among those five cases, I have chosen to read the episode titled "The Client's Daughter," which feels closer to our daily lives.

Just looking at the main title "Detective Club," you might think it is a collection of mystery novels that could be read somewhat lightly, but as expected, it is a work by author Keigo Higashino.

It does not stop at simply finding the culprit; through the case, thoughts such as the contradictions of human life, family love, and societal prejudices and ethics linger as lingering images even after finishing the novel.

Shall we listen together?

This is the short story "The Client's Daughter" by Keigo Higashino.
