You could always trim that suet pastry & freeze for use as dumplings for soup or stew.

What a superb dish! So nice to have these local recipes.

Love this pie will.make it for our family

You give the best instruction, thank you.

What a delicious meal that pudding is amazing 😊

Who doesn't like a suet pudding? We had them regularly when I was a kid in the 50's and 60's. Some nice rich gravy and some mash. Pukka.

It’s been so many years since I had a leek and bacon steamed pud and once again you took me straight back to happy times. Thank you very much 👍

That looks delicious I'll have to have a go at making this

Queen of pies 👑

This recipe reminds me of my childhood when my Nanny put a huge ball of suet pastry into a cloth and boiled steamed it and when it was done we had it with golden syrup and some of it next day fried with bacon and eggs for breakfast absolutely scrumptious I’m 5’8” so it helped me to grow well

My parents married in 1948, my sister and I were born in the 1950s. As a typical working class family we enjoyed many of the recipes that you have videoed,  I really enjoy revisiting making these meals, my mother taught me to cook using the simplest of utensils on a baby belling gas cooker with zero work surfaces and a cold pantry with no refrigerator 😊 I now have every modern convenience and every gadget you can think of, but the only test that counts is does it taste as good as it did 65 years ago😊

I'm definitely going to try and make this next week , Looks delicious, The sauce looked nice too.

Nice & traditional! Very well cooked! Thank you 🙏

The suet pudding looks lovely, Ian is the chief food taster, he enjoys everything, good comfort homemade food  x

I love these old fashioned recipes my mother used suet pastry in almost everything, she made a steak and onion 'drop in pie' she called it with suet crust pastry with an upside down cup in the middle of the pie dish, the pastry was soft underneath and crispy on top it was delicious, I love watching the wartime kitchen cookery programs too, the old fashioned dishes are the best, your pudding and gravy looks so nice, I'm definitely going to make this.

My leek and bacon pudding is steaming now, so guess what we’re having for dinner tonight!  Thankyou for a recipe that I have the ingredients for without going shopping.  😊

I’m a Geordie who has lived in Australia for 36 years and Your cooking brings back memories of my childhood. Keep it coming ❤
