Your respect while exploring is top notch

Lead coffins were also used to contain diseased bodies. For example many died of smallpox, tuberculosis, and syphilis which are contagious (in different ways, contact pathogen, airborn pathogen, etc ) at the time of death.

In France, when parents pass away, the children have to pay a lot of inheritance tax even if the house hasn't been sold yet. Many children choose to reject the inheritance because they cannot afford it financially, and I think that last chateau is an example of this.

I think I may have found him, if anyone is interested. Pierre Léon André Maurin was born on January 20, 1921, in Beaulieu, Ardèche, and died on August 20, 2001, in Aubenas at the age of 80. I also found a 1992 certificate awarding Pierre Maurin the Médaille de la Défense Nationale, bronze grade, with the ARTILLERIE clasp. That gives us a confirmed artillery connection to Pierre himself. I’m still trying to confirm his exact regiment, his military service in Africa.

I really appreciate how all of you respectfully showcase the former owners'  lives. You bring them, back to life so that the younger generation can get to know them too. It's just wonderful to me! With love from Toronto, Canada

Who would steal real human bones?!! I hope theyre being haunted right now

Shout out to the guys whose name I don't know, who provided extra historical points while they were in the crypt! The added folklore and legend was extra cool!

It would be amazing if a grandchild or far relative stumbled across one of these videos with all the belongings and photos left behind, and was able to go and retrieve the memories that have been lost for so long ❤

I wish y'all had covered them back up. They never should have been robbed like that, whoever did it deserves something awful.

Just for reference, the Adolph book is a study in how he became an evil tyrant.  It does not paint Adolph in a good light at all.  Pretty sure if there are two groups of people who hate him it is the French and all of Africa.

I love some abandoned journalism!

That's a very cool history lesson from Dan!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

I have too say this is one of the best urban explorers you’ve ever done.

That huge book on the table in that second house looks like an old accounting ledger book. My mom used to keep books for my dad's business back in the 50s and 60s and she always had those gigantic ledger books she was writing in.

Sundays are for exploring with Josh ❤🎉😊

40:26 Here Josh, this is mostly what I can translate from the picture: "Dad and Mom send to their grand children their photo, which is not really well done. Soon they will be in France and we will make better beautiful photos."

HOW sad to think they thought they would laid to rest in peace and people would vandalize..

I hope the children or the grandchildren will go back to the chateau to collect some of the family memories someday

josh those old books could have been ledgers which would track finances for the family or money owed to them for businesses or accounts
