Watching a game get multiple chances at a modern/definitive port and fumble EVERY single one of them while so many other games rot away to time is horrible man.
Sistan is jammed on that select screen like someone adding one too many characters to a mugen game. Kind of plays like she was imported from another game too.
Fun fact from when we were recording the B-roll; the reason we were even able to play is that, I used to tool around with old doujin fighters all the time, and after our usual x-input sticks didn’t work, I looked around to see if we had some ps3/360 era sticks lying around, since old doujin fighters work with D-input. We did! And even then, one of the sticks R2 inputs didn’t work, so Guilewinquote took the L and used that stick in our session. Yatagarasu is so old, 2 X-input devices overwrite each other.
Yatagarasu is a very fun game, it’s just so alarming on how hard it is to actually play.
Phenomenal work as always! Glad more people will know about Yatagarasu.
Yatagarasu is the reason I don't crowdfund videogames. The crowdfunding campaign got $118,243 but that's not enough for multiple people to work extensively on a game for years. It's a really small team and that's not "quit your job" money. It's still a passion project. Realistically, it makes sense that it turned out this way. It's still disappointing though. But it really shows the importance of publishers and that crowdfunding alone isn't enough. But Skullgirls and Them's Fightin' Herds also taught us the dangers of publishers. Indie fighting games are in a weird place because we expect long-term support but they devs are barely getting paid.
So that's where the the sprite of the blue hair girl came from, she's in so many flash games and I learned where so many other sprites came from EXCEPT hers.
I hope some guy or group of dedicated hardcore fans can one day put rollback into the latest version, similar to Melty Blood's CCCaster, or Melee's Slippi. It's a ton of work, but FGC nerds are so dedicated to their small games that I believe in them. Assuming this doesn't get another update that puts it in, of course.
This gsme is so good, it is so frustrsting that for whatever reason we never got rollback. Hopefully one day itll be playable on fightcade and be free from its offline clutches. Annoyingly having it be PC only also meant that it was unrepresented at local events.
Huh, neat. I can see some of the influenc- that's just Ibuki's stage
