just went back to watch ur first vids, idk if it’s the scripting or the editing but you seem much more comfortable on camera and your content flows much more fluidly. keep it up!

I'm a magpie and a serial starter. I have over 600 paints and outside my circa 175 GW kits I have over 700 scale models. And, yes, they're all in a database and maintaining that is a job on its own. Is it any defence that I'm in my 60s and that collection has taken half my life to amass? - its not like I went on a spree last week 😂

For me, a good trick to save money is to learn how to kitbash. There are many boxes that have lots of spare parts that would otherwise go unused. The GSC Goliath kit has an extra Neophyte, and the Tau Devilfish has a spotter that can be easily modified into infantry. When working on a 2k+ army, those things add up quickly.

Maybe you won’t get an extra unit out of it, but you can definitely get some extra weapon options to swap in later.

You can go a little crazy with it as well. After building Breachers, there are a lot of spare parts that can be used for Fire Warriors. You can buy used Astra Militarum models and kitbash them into some Tau Empire units… or do it like me and buy a second hand Skaven unit and kitbash it with Tau parts.

Second hand sure, but never assembled nor painted. Having to take apart models that were "primer ready" when they still had sprue nubs and all mold lines on them is beyond annoying. Never again.

Being a complete n00b, my biggest cost so far has been in trial/error or paint types and colors because Im not sure exactly what Im doing or what colors I want, or how they will look on the models. So my suggestion would be to double your initial budget for paint unless you plan to follow a specific template.

I swear by this... if you are buying any astartes, heretic or loyal, combat patrol or bix box in general, throw in any Horus Heresy box of basic marines, whatever Mk you like or fit the best.
Yes, it´s extra expense at once, about 1/3 or 1/4 price of the big box, but the mileage is often pretty nuts. Trough bitz from big box, you can often double the amount of minis.

I just painted 10 space marines and I’m too bored to keep going. I love painting too. I should have got something else. I might get the new Tomb Kings.
